Lydia finally realized what was going on. She had to admit that Estelle made a pretty convincing point.

How could Charlotte, an orphan, possibly pull off something this big? Even Perry Group couldn't secure those two projects back then, so how could she?

Clearly, Charlotte must've gotten wind of the projects through some channel and was now talking big to make herself look good.

Now that Estelle had been called out, Lydia jumped right in to back her up.

"Charlotte, don't you think you're being a little much? We were just being nice and greeting you. First, you're rude to Mom, then you brought up those projects to downplay the fact that the Perry family raised you. And now, you're even going after Mrs. Norman.

"No matter what, she was once your mother-in-law. She never meant to look down on orphans. Why did you twist her words like that? Look, I know you blame Mom and Dad for cutting ties with you back then because of me, but that wasn't their fault. It was clearly you who…"

She suddenly stopped and put on a look of hurt, but she still pretended to be reasonable.

"Forget it. What's in the past is in the past, but you should apologize to Mrs. Norman. She was just raising a question, that's all. Honestly... what you said is really hard to believe."

Her "understanding" attitude once again won everyone's sympathy.

But Charlotte knew exactly what kind of person Lydia really was. With a cold laugh, she replied, "Save the speech. If you don't believe me, go ahead and make the calls. I'd be happy to confront you with the truth.

"Who is she to deserve an apology from me? And who do you think you are, demanding an apology from me? Where do you get that kind of nerve? Let's be real, you know exactly what happened back then. How many times are you going to try this same pathetic trick in front of me? You're not tired of it, but I'm disgusted by it."

"You've gone way too far, Charlotte!" Rosie couldn't take it anymore. She slammed her hand on the table and stood up.

She stormed over, her voice shrill with anger. "You ungrateful brat! Are you trying to turn the world upside down? You have no respect for the family that raised you and no manners in how you speak to your former mother-in-law. You're completely out of line!

"No wonder people say blood is thicker than water. Looks like they were right all along!"
