A strange pressure built inside Izzy’s head, dull at first, then heavier, like a dense fog clouding her senses.
Frederik was speaking, but his voice sounded distant–an echo bouncing inside her skull. She shook her head, trying to clear it, but the dizziness only worsened.
The lights of the hallway blurred. Her body swayed slightly, unsteady.
Frederik’s expression shifted. His smirk disappeared. His brows furrowed. He took a step forward.
“Are you all right?”
Izzy barely processed the words before her balance gave out.
The floor felt uneven beneath her feet, and a sudden wave of nausea hit her.
Something was wrong.
She tried to steady herself, but her limbs felt heavy, her movements sluggish.
Frederik reached out, but before he could touch her, two large men appeared beside them.
“Step away,” one of them said firmly.
Frederik’s eyes narrowed. His hand dropped to his side as he turned to face them.
“Who the hell are you?”
Neither man answered. They moved swiftly, supporting Izzy on both sides. She barely had the strength to resist as they led her toward the entrance.
A sleek black car pulled up to the curb.
Frederik took a step forward. “This is illegal,” he snapped. “I can call the police.”
One of the men pulled out an ID and held it up. “We are Miss Rossi’s personal security.” He tucked the badge away and handed Frederik a card. “If you have concerns, you can contact the security firm.”
Frederik stared at the card, his jaw tight.
The two men carefully helped Izzy into the car. One of them closed the door behind her. Without another word, the car sped off, disappearing into the night.
Frederik gripped the card tightly, his fingers curling around the edges. His expression darkened.
He pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
“Look into this security company,” he ordered.
As soon as the call ended, he dialed another number.
“She has security,” he said coldly. “The plan failed.”
A dull ache throbbed in Izzy’s skull the moment she stirred. Her eyelids felt heavy, as if weighed down by something

invisible. The soft hum of medical equipment reached her ears, followed by the sterile scent of antiseptic.
She blinked slowly, her vision adjusting to the warm was the crisp, high–thread–count bedding beneath her.
She turned her head slightly, taking in her surround

The room was spacious, far from a standard hospital tones. A floor–to–ceiling window stretched across one side, the city lights twinkling in the distance beyond sheer curtains. The furniture was sleek and modern–clearly a private suite meant for VIP patients.
Her gaze drifted to the small seating area beside her bed. A leather chair sat tucked close to her bedside, and in it, someone was sleeping.
Liam.
His head rested against the back of the chair, arms crossed over his chest. Even in sleep, he looked sharp–his suit slightly wrinkled but still neatly in place. His brows furrowed slightly, as if, even in his rest, something was bothering him.
Izzy immediately tried to recall what had happened.
She pressed her fingers against her temples. A headache. She remembered that. Then dizziness. Then–nothing. Just a black void where the rest of her memories should be.
Her heart pounded. How did she get here?
As if sensing her gaze, Liam shifted in his seat. His fingers flexed slightly before his eyes fluttered open.
For a moment, he looked disoriented, his gaze unfocused as he took in his surroundings. Then his eyes met hers.
Liam sat up immediately, his arms uncrossing as he leaned forward. “You’re awake.” He stood, his sharp gaze scanning her face. “How are you feeling?”
“I—”
Liam didn’t give Izzy a chance to finish her sentence before he pulled her into a tight hug.
The force of it knocked the breath out of her. His arms wrapped around her with a grip so firm it was as if he was making sure she was real–that she was still here.
Izzy stiffened, caught off guard. After a moment, she hesitantly patted his arm. “Liam… I can’t breathe.”
His hold loosened slightly, but he didn’t let go.
“I was worried,” he said. His grip remained firm. “It’s near you. I should have-”

Liam hesitated, but finally released her. His hands lingered on her arms as if to steady her before he pulled back.
Izzy looked up at him. “What happened? How did I get here?”
Liam studied her face before asking, “Do you remember anything?”
Izzy pressed her fingers to her temples, trying to piece together the fragments of her last memory. “I was talking to Frederik Vasili,” she said slowly. “After that… nothing. It’s just blank.”

Liam’s jaw tightened.
“The doctors found drugs in your system,” he said. “Enough to knock out a horse.”
Izzy’s stomach twisted.

“You were unconscious for two days,” he continued. “If I hadn’t hired people to act as your bodyguards, you-” He exhaled sharply, shaking his head. “They got to you first and brought you straight to the hospital.”
Izzy’s fingers curled into the blanket. Her expression darkened.
Someone had drugged her.
This wasn’t an accident. This wasn’t a mistake.
Someone had deliberately tried to harm her.
Just as Izzy was about to ask more questions, a knock sounded at the door.
Liam straightened, stepping slightly to the side as the door opened. A man in a white coat entered, followed by a nurse pushing a small medical cart.
The doctor, a man in his late thirties with neatly combed dark hair, offered a brief nod. “Good, you’re awake.” He glanced at Liam. “Took her long enough.”
