Chapter 836 Refusing to Compromise

Carlee returned to her seat in the living room, this time with an oddly smug expression on her face.

“The fool is searching for Nina, and he hasn’t found it yet, it seems,” she said.

Carlee lingered on the lengthy note because she assumed that the reason Nina stopped bothering Harley was because she was dejected after being abandoned.

Carlee felt absolutely no remorse, despite how terrible it may be for a pregnant woman to be in such a scenario.

Carlee didn’t give a damn about the unborn child.

Sylvia was, after all, young, gorgeous, healthy, and strong. In addition to having one child, having two or three in the future won’t be an issue.

Sylvia feigned to be alarmed when she heard Carlee contemplating and added, “Mrs. Timothy, you can see Harley is sluggish; I’m going up to check on him.”

“Just in time for you to develop sentiments, I suppose! Men are like this,” Carlee said with a sly smile as she shared her personal experience. “Whoever gives him warmth while at his lowest, will forever have that man’s heart.”

“Really?”

Sylvia, who has always claimed to be uninformed about emotions, nodded cautiously and said, “Then I’ll try it. I just want Harley to be happier. I don’t expect Harley to accept me.”

Harley’s obsession with Nina was cruel to Sylvia and she couldn’t see why she couldn’t compare to Nina.

Sylvia took a deep breath and smiled at Carlee while keeping her head down to go up to the second floor.

Harley was already resting on the bed at this point. He didn’t bathe because he was so exhausted. All he wanted was to fantasize about seeing Nina again.

But soon as he started to nod off, Sylvia’s voice woke him up.

“Harley, what are you doing? I want to discuss something with you.”

Harley became irritated by the soft voice.

“I’m sleeping. I’ll speak to you when I get up,”

Then Harley lay over and turned his back on Sylvia.

His lack of interest in Sylvia had become a habit, but it wasn’t the best course of action in the long run.

The rejected Sylvia considered how to remove Nina from Harley’s heart, which was the most important thing at the moment, as she stood outside the room’s door.

Carlee saw her son sleeping in the room in the evening as night fell, so she knocked on the door and begged him to get up.

“You need to eat. It’s almost seven o’clock. I won’t let you be foolish for that woman again, so get up now!”

After pestering Harley for twenty minutes, Carlee eventually received a response.

“I am an adult. You can’t tell me what to do. So leave me be,” Harley snapped

When Carlee heard it, she became enraged and yelled, “How dare you speak to me in this manner! Would killing me make you happier?”

Sylvia heard the argument in the hallway and rushed over to see what was going on.

“All right, Harley, calm down. Mrs. Timothy is just worried about you. Why don’t we just eat in your room?” Sylvia said. Harley just snorted at her as he entered his room again and sat down.

In light of this, Sylvia felt helpless.

She discovered that Harley was exhibiting an extreme attitude and was not susceptible to either good or evil persuasion.

After dinner, Sylvia attempted to pacify Harley again.

As she stroked her flat stomach and spoke to herself, Sylvia began to play the family card. “You torture yourself like this every day, I’m scared you will get sick, what if the kid doesn’t have a father?”

Harley viewed the unborn child as a burden because he held no affection for Sylvia nor the child. He didn’t even believe the child was his. Even if the child was his, Harley was at the point that he would disown the child if it meant getting Nina back.

“If you’re worried so much, you can abort the child whenever you want, and I’ll pay for it. It’s not my fault you won’t listen to me. I have told you more than once that I don’t want you nor that child,” Harley said icily.

Sylvia frowned and said in a tearful tone, “You still refuse to accept my child?” Harley surprised her by being so callous to herself. “Do you realize this a life you’re talking about? A life that you helped create!”

“That is yet to be determined, you sly witch!”

As Harley’s temper flared, he sprang up, grabbed Sylvia by the arm, and dragged her out the bedroom door.

“Our chat is over; please don’t bother me again.”

With a loud bang, Harley slammed the door in her face and locked it to ensure she wouldn’t try to come in again.

Finally, there was silence, and Harley just desired a restful night’s sleep. He jerked awake again after hearing Sylvia yell in agony from outside the door.

“Harley, open the door for me-my stomach hurts so bad!”
