Chapter 889 Road Hero

“Help, help!” Nina screamed, running as far as her legs could carry.

The streets were empty at that time of the morning. Apart from the vehicles that occasionally sped past, the sidewalks were empty, well except for the rising ballads of the nocturnal creatures and Nina was running on the side of the road holding her high-fever daughter while crying desperately with the hope that someone would show up to help her out of her predicament. It was a pity however that even if two or three cars passed by, none of them stopped.

She couldn’t outrun the Biker gangs and they were trailing behind her slowly. They saw that she was in great turmoil but none of them was willing to help her and threw taunts and made fun of her.

“She is so beautiful and it’s so sexy the way she can run so fast with the child in her arms!”

“Have you practised long-distance running before?”

“I would advise you not to waste all your energy on running. Why don’t you just give up?.”

At that moment, a passing taxi suddenly changed direction, crossed the flower bed from the motorway, and headed straight for the sidewalk. The Biker gangs noticed the taxi but before they could react, the vehicle drew to a stop and a figure jumped out of the car.

Finally, someone came to the rescue, thought Nina as she also stopped

“Let her go!”

The stranger’s voice was high-pitched and loud, like it was not trying to plead, but was trying to put fear in the mind of the Bikers. The voice however felt familiar to Nina and when she strained to look, she found that it was Tom. Just as he walked towards her, a strong smell of alcohol filled the air.

“Tom, it’s you!” Nina screamed in surprise as well as delight. The appearance of Tom had brought her hope and she scurried over to his side. Seeing the child Nina was holding in his arms, and exchanging glances with the Bikers, Tom immediately understood what was going on.

Tom secretly sighed. How much more fortunate could he be? He had gone to the bar to get drunk because he was in a bad mood. On the way back, he stumbled across a figure that looked like Nina.

“Nina, don’t be afraid, I will protect you!” Tom assured Nina.

With the strength of the liquor in him, Tom was as bold as the bull in a fight. He picked up two empty beer bottles in his hand and waved them a few times at six or seven Biker gangs. “Don’t mess around, or you’ll get the full wrath of this bottle!”

After saying this, Tom grabbed the bottle and smashed it on one of the helmets and successfully slapped the gang member in the face. With the pieces of glass flying about, only half of the wine bottle remained, earning Tom yet another lethal weapon while he waited for the two more who rushed at him.

Tom was pumped. Although the previous move failed to cause serious damage to the Biker gang member wearing the helmet, he could choose to attack the opponent’s vulnerability. With one swing, he buried half of the broken bottle into the gangster’s belly, causing the latter to help in the blink of an eye, blood flowed, and Biker gang fell from the motorcycle clutching his stomach.

The other people were stunned, they didn’t expect Tom to attack so hard.

“How dare you hurt my brother?” The biker gang leader roared.

He furiously sped turned towards Tom to knock him off balance but was a bit too slow as Tom moved out of the way, stabbing him in the stomach as well. He fell off his bike and to the ground rolling and grunting in pain. His reaction kept the other gang members dumbfounded.

Seeing this, Nina tugged at Tom’s arm. “Don’t fight them, let’s get out of here first!”

Tom nodded. He had expected to get Nina into the taxi but was shocked to turn around and find that the taxi driver had turned the car around and fled.

With no means of transportation, Tom frowned and asked, “Nina, is the child sick?”

Realizing that the gangsters had run away, Tom stopped holding his head, got up from the ground and smiled lightly. Nina took a closer look and determined that Tom was in no serious condition, and she hurriedly called the ambulance. Seeing that her hands were trembling, Tom took the child over and asked: “What? Your parents were knocked down? Where are they?”

Nina finished the emergency call and pointed to the direction of the house. “The house next to that one is where I live. My parents were hit by the Biker gang downstairs. They were also trying to save me and the child…”

At this point, Nina burst into tears, turned and ran towards the community.

Realizing that the gangsters had run away, Tom stopped holding his head, got up from the ground and smiled lightly: “Small meaning, what are men afraid of getting hurt!”

Nina took a closer look and determined that Tom was in no serious condition, and she hurriedly called the ambulance.

Seeing her hands trembling, Tom took the child over and asked in astonishment while holding it carefully: “What? Your parents were knocked down by these assholes? Where are they?”

Nina finished the emergency call and pointed to the direction from which she ran.

“The neighbourhood is my home. My parents were hit by the Biker gang downstairs. They were also trying to save me and the child.”

At this point, Nina burst into tears, turned and ran towards the house to check up on her parents. A moment later, the ambulance drove into the community at a rapid pace and sent all the wounded to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible.

Fortunately, Kasen Paul was not hurt except for the bruised leg and some minor injuries. As for her parents, they were both pushed into the emergency room and Tom was placed in one of the wards.

Nina used the opportunity to inquire about her daughter, and when she learned that the baby’s bruised head was fine, all her fears died down. However, the doctor had just finished the antipyretic injection, and the child’s high fever had not subsided, so Nina was still uneasy.
