“Good evening, Mr. Dox…”

Allison’s cheeks flushed crimson as she entered with a delicate bow.

It was the next evening.

She was there to serve Dustin some tea.

Her face glowed, and memories of the previous night were still fresh and overwhelming. She could not even meet his eyes.

After all, she had practically thrown herself into his arms and then woken up in his bed…

Dustin glanced up and smiled. “Miss Allison, there’s no need to trouble yourself.”

Allison whispered, “I am already yours, Mr. Dox. Why would you treat me like a stranger?”

The corners of Dustin’s lips twitched.

‘What in the world?! I didn’t enjoy a single moment of “that,” yet I’m stuck with the blame?’ he thought.

Screw that meddling old prude!

He was seriously thinking about adding more drugs in his courtyard.

He took a sip of tea and asked, “How’s your grandfather?”

“I don’t know what happened to him, but he howled all night. He sprinted around the courtyard like a madman. It wasn’t until sunset that he finally stopped.” Allison sighed.

“Why are you laughing?” she asked in confusion.

“Oh, nothing,” he said as he suppressed a chuckle. “Just thought of something amusing.”

As their conversation softened the awkwardness between them, Dustin’s face suddenly turned sharp.

A faint sense of foreboding filled the air.

He pulled Allison into his arms without hesitation.

Swish! Swish!

Two poisoned darts whizzed past where she had stood moments before and embedded themselves in the wooden table.

“Mr. Dox…” Allison stammered as her heart pounded. Misunderstanding his intentions, her breathing quickened as her hands unconsciously rested on his waist.

“Who’s there? Show yourself!” Dustin’s voice turned cold as his gaze pierced into the shadows.

Clap! Clap! Clap!

A dry applause echoed in the room.

From the darkness, a gaunt man with sunken cheeks emerged. His sharp cheekbones cast menacing shadows.

“Stealth, huh?” he muttered. A faint smirk played on his lips.

With a burst of energy, he leaped into the air and carried Allison as they soared above the room.

Swish! Swish!

Another barrage of darts struck the ground where they had been standing moments before.

“Enough games!” Dustin growled. He then snatched one of the darts midair and hurled it back into the shadows.

Thunk!

A muffled groan sounded as Brutus stumbled out of his hiding spot.

His face was a mask of disbelief.

“How… How did you find me?!”

He was the master of stealth. Even the best Martial Saints could hardly track him.

Dustin landed gracefully and placed Allison down gently before stepping forward.

This man seemed to know his every move and left him with nowhere to hide.
