How laughable the whole situation was!

The men all had strange looks on their faces and seemed disdainful. Meanwhile, the women basked in their satisfaction.

The worse Shawna was doing in life, the happier they were.

Under those mocking gazes, Shawna’s face became ever darker, but she could not be bothered to explain.

“A pig farmer? That’s not bad. I heard that the price of pigs is going up a lot. This could be a way to get rich fast,” a man said half-jokingly.

A wave of laughter erupted in the VIP ballroom.

It was very taunting.

“I told you not to come. Look, you’re embarrassing Shawna,” Devina said to Dustin. “How can you be so thick-skinned? Don’t you feel ashamed? How can you just say that you’re a high school graduate and a pig farmer? You’re really useless!”

“What’s so bad about being a pig farmer? I make a living with my own hard work. That’s not embarrassing,” Dustin said with a grin.

Devina’s face became even more distasteful. She really did not know how Shawna could accept having such a useless boyfriend. The Riley family must have gone nuts, too, to let such a person go out with Shawna.

“Dustin, right? Tell us how you managed to land our campus belle. What is it about you that she likes?” some women asked curiously and surrounded Dustin.

In reality, they were interested in how Shawna had ended up in such a horrible state that she would date someone so pathetic. What had she gone through to get to this point?

Dustin was about to talk, but Shawna stopped him.

“Dustin, there’s nothing to tell,” Shawna said icily.

Dustin shut up.

Seeing Shawna angry, some of the women covered their mouths and laughed surreptitiously.

They wondered what Shawna was feeling at the moment. She must feel humiliated.

They wanted to laugh the more they looked at Dustin. They were really reveling in Shawna’s humiliation.

Just then, there was a knock at the door of the ballroom. A security guard opened it.

“Excuse me for intruding. I’d like to ask if the Mercedes-Benz 350 parked by the flower bed outside belongs to a guest here. If so, please move the car to the parking lot.”

“Sir, is the car yours?” the security guard asked Dustin.

“No,” Dustin said. “But I saw that the person who parked the car was wearing a white T-shirt.”

“Thank you.” The security guard closed the door and left.

The VIP ballroom was quiet for a few more seconds before laughter erupted again.

Everyone looked at Dustin mockingly.

When Dustin had gotten up, they thought that the car was Dustin’s. But it seemed that it was only a misunderstanding.

This made everyone relax.

“What did I say? He’s just a pig farmer. How could he afford such a car?”

“So, it’s not his car. He’s definitely useless. He couldn’t ever afford an expensive car.”
