Two days went by quickly.
Dustin and Simone visited a busy market in Somerton.
“My dad’s birthday is in a few days. He loves antiques, so let’s find something nice for him,” Simone said with a smile.
They were in the outer area of Hattan’s antique market, where street vendors had set up stalls selling various items. The place was packed with people.
After they entered, Simone looked around at the goods. She was clearly interested.
The vendors noticed her. They shouted earnestly and bragged about their antiques.
Dustin sighed and shook his head.
It was obvious Simone did not know anything about antiques. She got excited at everything she saw, and it made her an easy target for vendors who loved overcharging those who knew little about it.
“Ninety-nine percent of the stuff here is fake. Even if something’s real, it’s probably not worth that much,” Dustin said.
“You have knowledge of antiques?” Simone asked.
“A little,” Dustin said with a smile.
“Yeah, right. Your ‘a little’ isn’t convincing at all,” Simone said jokingly.
Still, she seemed to know better than to shop here. Instead of buying something, she led Dustin straight to the inner part of the market.
Eventually, they reached the beautifully decorated Antiquities Trading Hall.
This area was quieter, and the people here clearly had more class and status than the crowd outside.
“I don’t have much money left. I’m not sure I can afford a good antique here,” Simone said with concern.
“How much do you have?” Dustin asked.
“70 thousand,” she said.
Dustin hesitated for a moment.
With only 70 thousand, it was unlikely they could buy anything valuable in this market.
Given the size of the place, even a basic piece would cost at least a hundred thousand.
It looked like he would have to handle the matter.
The two of them followed the crowd into the trading hall.
Simone only agreed to walk in because she heard there was an event happening today.
The hall was lively, and it was no surprise that they ran into someone they knew.
“It’s them again.” Simone stopped and frowned.
“With what money? Them? Buying things here?” Darren sneered.
“No money, no taste. They’re just here to make fools of themselves,” said Darren. Suddenly, a thought crossed his mind.
He walked over to Dustin and Simone.
“Uncle Darren...”
Even though Simone did not like the main family members, she still greeted him out of respect.
Dustin, however, did not care. He just glanced at them and ignored them completely.
Darren’s face darkened immediately.
Being ignored by someone from the branch family was a huge blow to his pride, especially when Killian Clarke, the son of the Boreal Group’s chairman, was standing nearby.
“Dustin, how dare you?! My dad is right here, but you won’t even greet him? You won’t even look at him? Where are your manners?” Luna said coldly and glared at Dustin.
Dustin smiled softly.
It was obvious that they were not approaching him and Simone with good intentions, so why should he play along?
“Respect is mutual. If someone respects me, I’ll respect them. If they don’t, why should I care?”
His words made Luna’s face darken. Darren got angry, and Killian raised an eyebrow in surprise.
