"I know!" Sienna nodded her head, and her mood also eased slightly.
After chatting with Sienna for a while, Camille left the company and headed to Simpson Group as noon approached. She had initially planned to call and clarify things over the phone, but she thought that meeting in person might express her thoughts more clearly, so Camille went directly to Simpson Group.
Ayan didn't know she was coming, and she only sent a message to Kian beforehand to give a heads-up. As for lunch, of course, she brought it along on the way. It was a convenient fast food meal, and the taste was pretty good.
Arriving at Ayan's office floor, Camille stepped out of the elevator. The secretary's office was busy, and when they saw her, they all looked up and greeted her. Camille warmly greeted everyone and even ordered lunch for them. It was all convenient fast food, but it needed to be delivered by a delivery person as she couldn't carry so much alone.
After informing the assistant in the secretary's office, Camille went straight to Ayan's office with the lunch. She treated the people in the secretary's office well because they were the ones directly in contact with Ayan. So, even when it came to treating them to a meal, she treated everyone equally and didn't order anything different for herself and Ayan. Doing so would make them feel that she looked down on them.
She didn't buy anything overly expensive either, but rather something moderately priced with good taste. This way, it wouldn't make people feel pressured, and it wouldn't give others the impression that she had a refined taste.
So, the way she handled things always made people feel comfortable. The people in the secretary's office liked Camille and respected her.
Upon reaching Ayan's office, Camille knocked on the door since it was closed. Ayan's voice came from inside, "Come in!"
His tone was indifferent, almost devoid of warmth. Camille was well aware of how serious he could be when working.
A faint smile appeared at the corner of her mouth, and then she pushed the door and entered.
Inside the office, Kian was standing in front of the desk, reporting on his work. Ayan was sitting in his office chair, looking down at some documents. He hadn't even raised his head throughout the process. However, Kian looked up and met Camille's gaze, quickly saying, "Mrs. Simpson!"
Camille nodded slightly, offering a faint smile, and then spoke, "Kian, are you done with your work? I ordered lunch for everyone, including you."
Kian immediately responded, "Thank you, Mrs. Simpson."
While the two were conversing, Ayan had already lifted his head and, upon seeing Camille, his eyes filled with joy.
He spoke softly, "That's enough for now. You can leave."
Kian nodded and quickly left the office, making sure to close the door behind him.
Now, only Camille and Ayan were left in the office. Camille had already sat down on the sofa, and Ayan walked over, sitting beside her. His voice was extremely gentle, and his hand lightly embraced her as he asked, "Why didn't you tell me beforehand that you were coming?"
"Because I wanted to surprise you and see what you were up to. Is something wrong? Were you worried I'd catch you doing something bad?"
"I wish you would surprise me every day."
"That won't do." Camille raised her hand and circled his neck, leaning her entire body into his embrace. She said, "If I come every day, won't you figure out the pattern? It would be so boring. I want to surprise you without you having any clue."
"Alright, anything you say." Ayan's thin lips curved into a slight smile. He lowered his head closer to Camille and asked in a low voice, "Why so thoughtful today? Coming to surprise me and even preparing lunch? Including them too?"
"Yes, they work hard, so a little reward is well-deserved. After all, I also get to spend Simpson Group's money. This way, I can ensure their loyalty."
"Hmph, so I'm benefiting from their hard work?" Ayan huffed, displeasure evident on his face. That wasn't what he wanted to hear.
Camille smiled knowingly. She understood his thoughts, but she wasn't going to give him what he wanted. She said earnestly, "It's not like that. You're the boss, so you should be magnanimous. This way, it will make them more loyal!"
"Still arguing?" Ayan was extremely unhappy.
Camille tilted her head up, leaning closer to him, and planted a kiss on his chin. She chuckled, "Are you jealous too?"
Camille's smile was like that of a cunning little fox, making Ayan itch. He lightly pinched her chin and kissed her directly.
This kiss lasted who knows how long, but in the end, Camille felt her whole body go weak. If she weren't in his arms, she might have just collapsed to the ground.
This was the office, and Camille didn't want any accidents to happen, so she called for a pause at the right moment.
Ayan still didn't let go, keeping her tightly in his embrace. In this close proximity, Camille could clearly feel the warmth of his body.
Scorching hot.
It felt as if getting a little closer would melt a person directly.
Camille explained to Ayan the general content of Mario's phone call, especially the hints Mario made about the potential threats from the Nores family.
Camille looked at Ayan and said, "Sienna said that based on her understanding of Mario, he's likely doing this intentionally, hoping that I would tell you not to investigate further and immediately resume the project."
"But you didn't follow Mario's instructions at all?"
"Exactly!"
Ayan smiled faintly and said, "Don't pay any attention to him. I will definitely sell this favor to Horace and let Horace inform the Nores family that the project will continue as planned."
"But wouldn't Mario be unhappy about that?"
"He has been unhappy with me for a while now, and sooner or later, we will become opponents. So why should I do him a favor? It would be hypocritical, wouldn't it? Besides, he didn't directly call me. You can just pretend you never mentioned it to me. That should be fine, right?"
"Well, you're right. You've thought it through." Camille gave him a thumbs-up and praised him sincerely.
But Ayan felt like she was mocking him and said, "Don't laugh at me."
"I'm not laughing." Camille put on a serious face.
"Really?"
"Yes, really, I promise." Camille pursed her lips. It wasn't particularly funny to begin with, but seeing Ayan's face full of disbelief, it was indeed a bit amusing.
After finishing the meal, Ayan took care of the aftermath himself, tidying up and packing everything before throwing it into the trash bin.
Camille handed him a wet tissue to clean his hands. Her eyes carried a faint smile as she said, "Mr. Simpson, you're so hardworking. I feel a little ashamed."
"I can't see any shame in you." Ayan took the wet tissue, wiped his hands, and casually threw it into the trash bin. Then he looked at her gently and said in a low voice.
Camille smiled faintly and said, "Oh, come on, don't say that!"
