Chapter 1249: Intense

The other person remained silent, and Camille had no idea what they were thinking.

Camille exerted force, pulling on the door handle, but the locked door remained still. She looked around and saw no one nearby. Even if she shouted at the top of her lungs, no one would hear her through the car, right?

Camille took a deep breath and spoke again, "Who are you? Do you want money? If you want money, I can give it to you. I just hope you can let me go, okay?"

Camille's eyes were filled with pleading, her face showing a heavy sense of fear.

At a moment when Camille felt helpless, the driver spoke, "Cami, it's me."

He lowered his mask and took off his sunglasses.

Camille looked at the familiar face in front of her, her eyes filled with obvious fear. She stared blankly at the person in front of her and said, "Preston, what's the meaning of all this?"

As Camille called him by his name, Preston, the coldness on his face became particularly evident. He squinted his eyes and looked at Camille with a faint disdain. He said, "Cami, everything I did was because you forced me to. It was you who didn't answer my calls, and it was you who wanted to cut ties with me. Cami, we've known each other for so many years, and I've been so good to you. Why would you treat me so heartlessly? Are you willing to sacrifice our long-lasting friendship for someone like Ayan?"

Preston's words were filled with anger and questioning, clearly expressing his dissatisfaction with Camille's actions today.

He glared fiercely at Camille and said, "You think I've gone too far, don't you? But Camille, what about you? Have you ever thought about me? How much have I given up for you? How much have I sacrificed for you? But what about you? Ayan is the only one in your eyes. Are you willing to give up everyone who has been good to you for Ayan? Do you have any empathy at all?"

Preston's words stunned Camille. She stared at him without blinking, her eyes filled with an expression of disbelief. But the voice in her ears seemed to be repeating, and she let out a cold smile. She said, "Are you trying to morally blackmail me? Yes, you have indeed been very good to me, and you have indeed done a lot for me. But have I never done anything for you? You didn't hesitate to manipulate even me to achieve your goals. Every time you did something, I told myself that I had to tolerate it because of your kindness. But you kept getting worse and worse. Even my own parents would have exhausted all their favors by now."

Camille was also losing control. At first, she didn't know who it was and was genuinely terrified. But now that she knew it was Preston, she wasn't as afraid anymore. Even if Preston wanted to retaliate against her, she still held a glimmer of hope, thinking that he wouldn't go to such extremes.

Camille didn't know if her thoughts were correct or not.

The two of them argued in the car, and Camille's phone started ringing. Naturally, it was Ayan calling, probably to check on Camille's whereabouts after their meeting. However, the phone was in Preston's hand, so Camille could only watch it ring. Ayan noticed the caller ID and let out a cold sneer, saying, "You see, you will never feel any sadness for me, because your eyes only have Ayan. You're willing to sacrifice everyone for Ayan."

Preston chuckled coldly, and with his words, the coldness on his face became more and more apparent, completely overshadowing his entire expression. It looked particularly eerie. He sneered, "You can give up everything for Ayan, but have you ever considered what Ayan can do for you? Can he do as much for you as I have? Do you want to find out?"

Camille's eyes flickered with uncertainty, and she asked, "What are you trying to do?"

Preston didn't answer, he simply hung up Ayan's call and handed Camille a bottle of water, saying, "Drink it."

Camille hesitated for a moment, her face showing a cold expression. She naturally didn't make a move or show any intention of reaching out.

Preston locked eyes with her and said in a low, hoarse voice, "Cami, I don't want to lay a hand on you, so it's better if you drink it obediently."

Camille takes a silent deep breath and looks at Preston with an especially cold gaze. She says, "I don't understand what you're talking about, and I don't know what misunderstanding you have with the Simpson family. But over these years, with everything you've done, if there has been a misunderstanding about the Simpson family, why haven't you addressed it directly? Wouldn't that be better for everyone?"

"Why should I say it? Camille, don't try to pry information out of me. Let me tell you the truth. I'm prepared to go down together with the Simpson family. I want to take you away and make Ayan choose between you and the Simpson Group."

Preston's sinister laughter fills the air, his face radiating a chilling aura. He squints his eyes at Camille and says, "So be a good girl and drink this. You wouldn't want me to get rough with you, would you?"

His words are filled with threats.

Camille stares at him blankly, trying to figure out how to persuade him to spare her, but she can't come up with any solutions. The more desperate she becomes, the harder it is for her to stay calm.

Camille feels extremely uneasy, and this uneasiness intensifies her fear. She tightly clasps her hands together, her face filled with dread. She looks at Preston and says, "If I don't drink it, are you planning to force it down my throat?"

Preston lowers his head, seemingly lost in thought. He doesn't immediately answer the question, his expression remaining cold.

The two lock eyes, nearly half a minute passing in this tense silence until Preston finally speaks. "It's a sleeping pill. I want to take you away from here, so I hope you cooperate a little. I know you don't want to leave Timmy behind, so I'll take Timmy with us as well, okay?"

Hearing Preston mention Timmy's name, Camille can't remain calm. She glares at Preston with anger in her eyes and says, "Preston, what's the point of doing all this? I'm already married and have a child. I don't believe you love me so much that it has to be me and no one else. After all, your feelings for me aren't that deep, are they? If that's the case, why go to such extremes?"
