Chapter 1510 Toppling

Camille didn't want to continue reading Preston's response, so she blocked his number again.

Sitting at her desk without moving, the coffee in front of her had already gone cold, but she didn't mind. She took a sip and then got up to pay and leave.

Camille couldn't quite describe her mood - it was a mix of confusion and chaos.

She felt very down, with an indescribable feeling of unease and frustration lingering in the depths of her heart.

Camille didn't know how she had returned to Franklin Bay, only that she felt terrible and had so many unanswered questions repeating in her mind: "What is happening? Or did Preston fabricate the whole thing?"

Unable to find answers, Camille felt powerless.

She spent the entire afternoon at home, avoiding contact with Armstrong Corp. Ayan knew she was at her own company and didn't reach out.

As evening approached, Camille received a message: "I'm downstairs at the office. Are you coming down?"

When Camille saw the message, she was lying on the couch in her bedroom. She quickly called Ayan, "You're at the office downstairs?"

"Yes, just arrived. How about dinner tonight? Rex says there's a new restaurant by the river, and the food is good. Let's try it together?"

He asked softly, already having reached Camille's office building, as he wanted to have a private date with her.

Feeling apologetic, Camille replied, "I'm at home."

"Back already?" Ayan was surprised. "Did you leave work early?"

"Yeah... I came back in the afternoon, feeling a bit tired. I don't really feel like going out. How about tomorrow?" Camille felt somewhat disappointed but didn't want to go out, so she had to turn down Ayan's invitation.

Ayan wasn't the least bit upset. He quickly responded, "I'll come back now. Do you want me to bring you something to eat?"

"No, just come back soon."

Ayan could sense her low spirits through her tone and after hanging up, he immediately drove back home.

It took Ayan only about twenty minutes to get back. When Camille heard the sound of his car, she got up from the couch and went downstairs.

They met at the entrance, and seeing her expressionless face, he asked in concern, "What's wrong?"

Camille didn't speak but instead reached out and wrapped her arms around Ayan.

Ayan patted her gently with understanding and then asked, "Feeling down? Or did something happen at Armstrong Corp?"

Camille shook her head, "No, nothing. I'm just a bit tired. Maybe I've been too tense these past few days."

She spoke softly, indeed not feeling particularly well.

Ayan let her embrace him for a while, until she let go on her own.

He held Camille's hand, brought her to the living room, and sat down before asking, "Are you really just tired?"

Camille didn't hide anything and said, "Mom, I have something I want to ask you."

Talia nodded, "Ask away."

"Do you know Preston?" Camille inquired.

Talia seemed a bit unsure, not very familiar with the name but it did ring a bell.

After thinking for a moment, she asked, "I have a vague memory of this person. Who is he?"

Without answering, Camille said, "Mom, the thing I want to ask is related to this person, but his name might not have been this before. I want to know if the Simpson family or Ayan has ever harmed someone?"

Camille's question was somewhat weighty and serious.

Talia's expression turned grave as well, "Camille, I'm not quite sure what you mean by that?"

Camille bit her lip and said, "Mom, I'll be straightforward with you. Preston is my friend, but we're not friends anymore. He seems to have always carried a grudge against Ayan. At first, I thought it was directed at me, but I later found out it wasn't. It seems like everything he's done has been targeted at the Simpson family and Ayan. So I wanted to ask if there's something that I don't know about that happened in your family?"

The Simpson family had been standing strong in Hance City for so many years due to their accumulated strength and resources, but also because of their excellent reputation in society. The Simpsons not only did charity, but also established their own charity organization, where every penny was put to good use to help those in need.

The Simpsons were different from other wealthy families in society, who sometimes did uncharitable things under the guise of charity, or even took back what they had given.

So, Camille really didn't know what exactly the Simpson family, Simpson Group, had done to make Preston hate them for so long and to want to bring down the Simpson Group.
