After leaving the hospital, Jack asked the driver to call Sylvie and give her an address. Then, he arrived at a private room in a club and ordered a bottle of whiskey.
In less than fifteen minutes, Sylvie arrived at the club.
She wore a beige jacket with a tweed skirt and a pair of white boots. Her delicate face, combined with her clothing, made her appear as though she was a superior celebrity.
Upon entering the private room, she saw Jack sitting on the couch. Fear crawled into her body.
He was the only person who knew how to push her buttons.
If he wanted her to die, she would.
“Mr. Valentine...” Her throat was feeling pretty dry as she approached him fearfully.
She didn't have the guts to sit down, so she stood in front of him.
Jack acted as though he didn't hear her as he emptied his glass.
His beautiful hand twirled the glass as he smiled at Sylvie. “Do you remember what I told you before, Sylvie?”
Sylvie could feel chills running down her spine. It was as if her fear had manifested into a viper, crawling on her back.
She opened her mouth, but before she could utter a word, Jack abruptly stood up and hurled the glass in his hand toward her head.
He did so very forcefully as the glass caused her head to bleed instantly upon making contact.
After that, he raised his leg and violently kicked her abdomen, causing her to fly backward and smash into the wall. The bones in her arm shattered.
“Is my warning really that meaningless to you?” He slowly rolled his sleeves up, revealing his muscular arms.
The light landed on his multiracial facial features. Just a glance at him would make anyone tremble in fear.
This man is too scary! Sylvie was afraid that Jack would torture her further, so after she took in a deep breath, she quickly said, “I never forgot about your warning, Mr. Valentine! I also never did anything to harm Genevieve since then.”
She coughed heavily as she lay on the ground, unable to stand up. “I let Xavier out of prison because I wanted to frame him for Jane's murder...”
“I believe you're trying to use him to kill Genevieve, too. You think you're so smart, aren't you?” He grabbed her neck and lifted her up.
She could feel his grip on her neck getting tighter. Blood rushed into her brain as she wondered if he was going to snap her neck anytime soon.
Sylvie didn't have the nerve to argue with him anymore and squeezed words out of her mouth. “I-I'll trade something with you.”
“Let me take a look.” Jack let go and headed to the table. “I want to see if that something is worth sparing your life for.”
She crawled up with difficulty, opened her bag, and pulled out a thick envelope from within.
After he wiped his hands clean of blood with a hot towel, he grabbed the envelope and opened it. He saw a stack of pictures with a man and a woman on them.
Narrowing his eyes, he recognized Genevieve as the woman in the pictures, but the man...
