Corinna
Rushing through the house, I grab a blanket that was thrown across the arm of the sofa, wrapping it around me while making my way through the house and upstairs.
Along the way, we pass Sabine, Lila and Dahlia who fall silent at the sight of me speed walking past them in a panic and Phoenix following quickly a few steps behind.
" Corinna? What's wrong? " Lila's soft, feminine voice calls out, the concern is clear in her tone, but I find myself unable to answer her, I take note of their footsteps joining along side Phoenix's as I move quicker throughout the different floors of the house.
After what feels like hours, I finally reach the bedroom door but as I push it open my senses are overwhelmed with a mouth watering scent and that hunger is back without sparing a second.
With each breath I breathe, my fangs extend further, I feel my eyes change and the veins return and in a flash I'm across the room, tackling Jack to the ground and sinking my teeth into the veins on his neck, gulping down mouthfuls of his blood, I barely process Gia's loud horrified scream echoing off the bedroom walls.
Phoenix shouts something from behind me but it is completely drowned out by the sound of Jack's slowing heart rate, the brief subconscious thought that I am taking his life sounds in my mind, but I am unable to stop, each time I take a mouthful of blood, I promise it's the last only to take another.
Suddenly I am being tackled and pulled away from Jack by multiple hands, I struggle against them, blood running down my face and dripping from my fangs. " Corinna! You need to listen to me! " Dahlia shouts, but her voice only angers me and gives me the strength to push the people restraining me off.
As I charge across the room back to my food source, I hear Sabine pipe up, my movements falter " Corinna, you have control over this. You need to take a step back and remember that you are feeding on a person, an innocent person. "
" He's not innocent! " I growl. " He trapped my mother, experimented on her for years and then called Cain on me! "
" Well what about Gia, she's innocent and this is her mate. Don't allow her to lose her other half as you did. " She argues, this brings me to a complete stop, I glance over at Gia who is sobbing uncontrollably and pressing herself up against the wall.
" You don't want to do this in front of your little boy, look at him, look at your son Cori. " Sabine continues, my eyes snap from Gia to the bassinet next to her.
My feet move cautiously toward where my son lays, the moment my eyes meet his blue-grey ones, my face returns to normal and tears cloud my eyes. I turn back toward where I dropped the blanket on the floor, gently retrieving it and wrapping it around me again.
Sniffling lightly, I hesitatingly pad across the room to Elias. Gia shuffles further away with the closer I get, until finally she sprints across the room to her mate. In the background I can hear Phoenix feeding Jack his blood to heal him and Gia crying.
