Serenity and Alden approached the newlyweds to congratulate them—they'd barely made it on time, sliding in at the last minute thanks to Moriarty's fast-track wedding orders.

"Back in Valentia again! Only this time… with a baby on the way," Serenity said with a teasing smile.

"You! Don't even start! You're just as bad—or worse—than us," Lucius shot back, grinning.

"It runs in the family! Let's put it that way," Serenity said with a laugh.

"When are you heading back to New Zealand?" Alden asked curiously.

"There won't be any more New Zealand trips," Amanda said. "We talked to Moriarty—well, mostly Lucius did—and we're staying in Valentia."

"Seriously? That must've made Maximus's heart explode with joy!" Serenity said, surprised.

"I guess so, though the pregnancy probably hit him like a cold bucket of water at first," Amanda added with a smile.

"I can't even picture it. Just imagining Dad's face…" Serenity said, making a face.

"Well, let's just say he handled it pretty well," Lucius said, shrugging.

"In fact, my lovely husband here was way more scared of Moriarty than Maximus," Amanda said, amused.

"I mean… I've seen the guy, and heard him speak—he does command respect. And a little fear," Serenity admitted with wide eyes.

"Moriarty's not the kind of man you joke around with," Alden added, remembering his own tense moments.

"So, where are you going for your honeymoon?" Serenity asked, circling back to the big day.

"Well… honestly, we feel like we're already living it. We're just going to Florentia for a few days to stay in Great-grandma Catherine's old house."

"Wow! That still exists?" Serenity asked, surprised.

"Yeah, Maximus told me it does. Actually, Catherine's house, the old mansion we used to live in, and the last house my dad lived in—they're all under Laura's name now," Lucius explained, as if it were no big deal.

"Whoa, I didn't know that…" Serenity said, intrigued.

She'd always heard about Catherine, but had never gotten the chance to meet her or dig into her story.
