Chapter 0856

This kiss was full of longing, desire, and passion–an intensity that, if left unchecked, could lead to something much more.

“Peter… you don’t remember me. You don’t even feel comfortable around me,” she reminded him, trying to create some distance.

Peter simply smiled, his expression calm–almost amused.

“It was the only way to make you go home and rest,” he admitted.

“What?”

“Celeste, I’m not a monster. I appreciate that you stayed with me all that time in the hospital. But for the sake of the babies, I had to make sure you left and took care of yourself.”

“Are you serious? That’s why you said all those things?” she asked, completely thrown off.

Peter sat up, leaning against the headboard with a deep sigh. “Celeste…”

Celeste sat up as well, staring at him in surprise. She knew without a doubt that the Peter standing in front of her was nothing like the man she had once known.

“I know this all looks like a complete mess. I had a breakdown today. While Theodore was with me, telling me about our relationship, things started to become clearer. If you’re pregnant with my children, then you must be someone important to me.

“Because if there’s one thing I know about myself, it’s that I never do anything I don’t want to do. I know I’ve said and done things that don’t align with who we were. I won’t deny that it still feels unreal having you here, but there’s one thing you need to be sure of–I would never leave you alone with one or two of my children.”
