“If you hadn’t pushed Barbara, she wouldn’t have fallen ill. You have to come with me to the hospital.”

Ignoring my pregnancy, Thomas dragged me out of the room.

Once we arrived at the hospital, Mike and Thomas anxiously accompanied Barbara for her checkup.

Taking advantage of the moment, I grabbed the abortion appointment form and swallowed the medicine the doctor had prescribed.

As I was about to leave the hospital, I overheard a familiar voice in the hallway.

“Barbara’s illness can’t wait any longer. We need to extract Susan’s umbilical cord blood to save her.”

Thomas furrowed his brow, his expression dark.

“But Susan is only eight months pregnant. Taking the umbilical cord blood now could harm the baby.”

Mike looked at him, sneering.

“Could it be that you’ve developed feelings for Susan? Don’t forget whose child she’s carrying. What was your reason for marrying her?”

Thomas glared at Mike.

“How could I possibly fall for an ugly woman carrying someone else’s child? My heart has always been with Barbara. I’m just worried that something might go wrong.”

“She’s eight months pregnant. How could anything go wrong? The baby has already fully developed.”

“Besides, even if something happens, if it can save Barbara, that child would be lucky.”

Thomas spoke as if he had made up his mind, his gaze as cold as ice.

“I’ll personally perform the procedure to extract Susan’s umbilical cord blood for Barbara.”

I trembled uncontrollably, feeling as though I were facing two demons.

Looking out at the pitch-black night, I turned and ran.

Just as I reached the underground parking lot, two tall figures appeared, blocking my path.

“Baby, where are you going? The obstetrician just told me that there’s an issue with your prenatal checkup, and you need to get re-examined. Come back to the hospital with me right now.”

Thomas stepped forward and tried to grab my hand, but I violently shook it off.

“I had my last checkup just a week ago, and now you’re telling me there’s a problem. Don’t you think that’s ridiculous?”

Thomas’s face darkened.

“I’m the head of the obstetrics department. Do you not trust what I say? If I say there’s a problem, then there’s a problem. Come with me to the hospital right now.”

He blocked my way.

“I’m not going. Even if there is a problem, you should have contacted me earlier. I want to go home and rest now.”

My voice turned cold.

Mike stepped forward and grabbed my hand, then looked at Thomas.

“Thomas, stop wasting time with her. Just drag her to the hospital. Barbara can’t wait any longer. She’s been texting me saying she’s in a lot of pain.”

As soon as Thomas heard that Barbara was in pain, he immediately became anxious.

“You need to come with me to the hospital right now. The baby has to be delivered immediately.”
