“How could it be me? The baby in her belly is mine! How could I do this? I want to save Barbara more than anyone, it must be because of your illegal procedures that the baby died during the surgery.”

Thomas wiped the blood from his mouth, not backing down, and punched back.

“I want to save Barbara more than anyone else. Otherwise, why would I risk performing the surgery on Susan? It’s definitely your fault. If Barbara couldn’t be saved because of you, I will kill you.”

The two of them immediately began fighting, the whole operating room crashing around them. I could only watch coldly, numb to the pain.

The agony had rendered me numb.

Just as Mike raised the scalpel to stab Thomas’s hand, Thomas suddenly turned and looked at my bloody, mangled belly.

“Wait a minute, the baby just died. The cord blood inside her can still be used.”

Mike froze and looked at Thomas with suspicion.

“Are you sure?”

Thomas nodded vigorously.

“As long as the baby just passed away, we can still save Barbara.”

With that, Thomas quickly got up from the ground and pulled a blood-soaked lump from my belly.

“Take this and go save Barbara now.”

Mike didn’t waste a second, grabbing the piece and running off.

Once Mike was gone, Thomas turned to look at me.

“Since you helped save Barbara, I’ll make sure to stitch you up nicely, so you won’t be able to tell that you ever had a child.”

I scoffed at Thomas’s condescending look.

“Even if you have the cord blood, you won’t be able to save Barbara.”

Thomas wasn’t upset at all by my words. He held the needle and slowly started stitching through my abdomen.

“I know you’re angry about the baby, but I can promise you, once Barbara is saved, I’ll treat you well and won’t divorce you. Don’t worry.”

At this point, he still thought I would forgive him.

I sneered.

“Thomas, you tricked me into marriage to store cord blood for Barbara. Now, you perform surgery on me, cutting open my belly and killing my child, and you still think I will reconcile with you?”

Thomas, however, was unconcerned.

“You, a woman who was abandoned by her fiancé and has already had a child, do you think anyone else will want you except for me?”

So I was nothing more than a disposable object in his eyes.

I smiled mockingly, but my expression was hollow.
