Outside the door, Sophie, who had been eavesdropping anxiously, could not contain herself any longer. She pushed the door open and rushed in, grabbing Bennett’s arm and shaking it frantically.

“What are you waiting for? Say something! Our daughter is helping you–what’s wrong with that?”

Snapped out of his thoughts, Bennett’s face darkened, and his expression turned feral.

Without a word, he raised his hand and slapped Sophie hard across the face. The force sent her sprawling to the floor.

His eyes, bloodshot and wild, made him look like a beast ready to devour someone. The sheer ferocity of his glare was terrifying.

“You idiot! Are you trying to ruin Leah’s relationship with the Nelsons?” he roared.

Though he vented his anger on Sophie, he now seemed more composed than before.

Turning to Leah, he nodded, his tone calmer. “Leah, you’re right. Thanks to your reminder, we just avoided a disaster.”

Leah smiled in relief. “I’m glad you understand, Daddy!

After a brief pause, she added, “If the antiques you just bought can’t be sold, why not give them to me? Zayn will be back soon, and I can gift them to him when he returns. Zayn doesn’t like it when I spend money on him, so he’ll probably transfer the money back at the original price. That way, I can give it to you, and it won’t be a loss.”

Bennett’s worry that Leah might prioritize the Nelsons over him vanished with her suggestion.

Her idea reassured him.

The thought of Charmaine stealing what he considered a “done deal” made him livid.

Leah’s voice took on a soothing tone. “Daniel is kind–hearted, Daddy. How can we blame him?

“It’s Chara! If she’s showing interest in Daniel, it’s because she’s eyeing the Quinns‘ resources. If she had a similarly reliable target, she wouldn’t be ruining me and Daniel in the process.”

Leah did not respond directly but allowed her words to linger. Suddenly, realization dawned on Bennett, and he smacked his head. “Right! Why didn’t I think of that sooner? I can sell her to someone else! At those banquets I took her to, plenty of big shots slipped me room keys because of her. If she’d agreed back then, I’d have made a fortune by now!”

His eyes burned with greed and twisted satisfaction. “She’s caused me harm, so whether she likes it or not, she’ll make me back my money!”

When Leah returned to the Nelson Mansion later that evening, she was in high spirits, humming softly as she got out of the car.

She then instructed the staff to carefully carry the antique vases from the trunk to Zayn’s room.

“Leah.”

She turned to see Milo stepping out of the house, his gaze sharp as it swept over the vases she brought.
