Yohannes watched the two leave the room with an inscrutable look. 

The dinner passed smoothly on the surface 

Later that night. Madeline was lying in bed when she got a call from Lucas “Maddie, did you renew your contract for the fourth season?” 

“Yes” Madeline replied while glancing at her email where the contract awaited her signature. She had decided to extend for 

three more seasons. 

This show was perfect for her only two episodes in and she’d gained millions of fans On Twitter, she originally had only 250.000 followers, but now she has 105 million. It’s clear that choosing The Honor was the right decision for her. 

“Maddie. some people have already been eliminated. There are lots of cliques forming, and different circles can be pretty exclusive. Why don’t we just team up?

As Madeline pondered this, she glanced towards the living room where Helena was soothing the baby under the warm lamplight. The elder was gently patting the baby’s back as she walked around. 

Grace looked up at the bright light, reaching for the shiny chandelier with giggles that were utterly adorable. 

“So, you want us to act like a phony sibling duo, right?” Madeline asked. 

“I was thinking about it,” Lucas admitted. He wasn’t trying to gain fame; he just wanted Madeline to pay him some attention. 

Madeline responded, “Okay, how I treat you off–screen is how I’ll treat you on the show. Understand? I’m not going to fake anything for the cameras. 

Lucas understood. This meant Madeline wouldn’t be putting on a pleasant front for him, she’d behave as she always did. 

He didn’t mind. He thought. You must seize opportunities if you’re going to try your luck; otherwise, it’s pointless just wishing

“By the way, what do you want for breakfast while we’re filming? I’ve been learning to cook breakfast–made some pancakes and basic sandwiches–so I thought I’d bring my cooking gear. 

“I got an air fryer and made sweet potato fries, which turned out pretty good. Do you think you’ll like that? Since you love milk, I figured I’d bring one every morning” Lucas rambled on cheerfully. 

“How’s Henry doing lately?” Madeline asked. 

“He’s great. He told us to take good care of you because apparently, we owe you our lives, replied Lucas 

“Did he now? Alright then,” Madeline replied nonchalantly before hanging up. Staring at her phone after ending the call, she frowned slightly and mumbled. “Owe me a life?” 

“Was Henry talking about that time at the reservoir when I rescued‘ them! Surely they know it was all staged by now. Shaking her head, Madeline decided not to overthink it. 

The Larson residence. 

Lucas looked wistfully at his phone. This time I talked to Maddie for 2 minutes and 46 seconds. That’s progress, and her attitude towards me has improved He reflected while sitting on a stool. 

Layla wheeled Henry back inside, chatting with him as they entered, though Henry’s expression remained indifferent. She was used to his demeanor, which saddened her but left her feeling helpless. “Lucas, you’re still here? Great, why don’t you keep your brother company for a bit? He gets pretty bored being home all day.”

Layla patted Henry on the shoulder. “T’ll get you some water for your medication” 

Lucas wheeled Henry over to the sola. “Henry, you’re recovering really well. In about six months, you should be able to transition from the wheelchair to rehab. Things will get better, so try not to be too down. 

“You used to love racing and thrilling activities, but now… I’ve bought you some books and downloaded lots of movies. If you’re feeling bored, check them out. Oh, and I downloaded Maddie’s TV show for you; her acting is pretty impressive 

Layla rarely mentioned Madeline around Henry, knowing it brought him pain she wished he wouldn’t dwell on. Thus, Henry seldom heard about Madeline and wouldn’t ask about her either. 

“How is Maddie doing now? The Williams family used to see her as a thorn in their side, Henry asked Lucas. 

“Haven’t you heard? The Williams family and several other families tried to make a move against her but ended up in disarray with heavy losses. Even those families felt the impact, Lucas explained with a sigh. “Initially, the Larson family was involved too. But for some reason, they backed out at the last moment and actually profited from the chaos. They jumped from being ranked tenth among elite families to sixth.” 

Lucas couldn’t help but feel a bit nostalgic. Tve been filming a show with Maddie lately. When everything went down, she wasn’t even in the country. Her brothers really protected her well. I envy that and feel like I never had the ability to shield her, even at my best. 

Henry’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Yeah, we owe her so much. 

“You’re working with her, so could you take her some digestive tablets for me? When the weather changes and it heats up, she tends to have trouble with her stomach. 

“There’s also a box of fresh cranberries in the fridge. Could you give them to her and just say they’re from you? Don’t tell her they’re from me. 

Lucas frowned as he listened to Henry’s instructions. “Henry, you and Maddie have patched things up, so why…” 

Tll always owe her, Henry replied, shaking his head. “By the way, no need to worry about me. I sold my garage and invested in a few local businesses here. I’m making hundreds of thousands in profit annually, so everything’s fine. 

Lucas couldn’t help but admire him. “Henry, you’re the only one in our family who went out and started something on your own. You’ve really built yourself up again. Impressiveľ 

A couple of days later, it was time to join the crew, Lucas arrived at the location and spotted Madeline’s car, eagerly running 

The crew had already assigned photographers to follow them since they were currently top contenders. 

“Maddie, you’re here! Was the ride tiring?” Lucas asked as he approached with his hands full of stuff. “I brought some snacks for you. If you get hungry tonight, give them a try? 

Madeline glanced over. “No need 

Lucas said, “Maddie, these cranberries and tablets are from Henry. You might not want mine, but maybe consider his?” Madeline paused when she saw the familiar cranberry box in Lucas’s hand given by Henry.
