Chapter 40 

In the morning, everyone got up early. 

With dark circles around his eyes, Henry found Madeline in the restaurant. 

She was pouring soybean milk. 

“Madeline.” he called her. “I’ve got something to tell you.” 

Madeline turned around and glanced at him. “Just say it” 

“About Henry was about to tell her something 

“Henry, you’re awake. Why are you so late today?” Upon hearing the noise, Winslet ran over and took Henry’s arm. “I have been waiting for you for a long time. We are going to play together today. Have you forgotten?” 

Henry looked at Madeline, hesitating 

“Henry, come help me choose a house. We’re staying overnight at the mountain retreat tonight,” she said. 

Madeline smiled. “Don’t worry about me” 

Henry frowned and was taken away by Winslet 

He could only persuade Madeline later. 

Madeline’s hand was scalded by the soybean milk. She shook her wrist and wiped it with a tissue

“Yes” 

Lucas was stunned and looked at Madeline’s back. 

“Maybe it was just a coincidence?” he thought to himself. 

What kind of games could a country bumpkin play? 

“Are you playing Minesweeper or Tetris Lucas asked her curiously. 

Madeline clenched the cup in her hand and looked back with a bit of embarrassment

She smiled, revealing that she was a little empty and didn’t know what to think 

“Got what you want, huh? You’ll regret it sooner or later!” Layla held the paperwork, and her mood was a bit complex. “We’re going to the mountain retreat tonight. You should come with us and not wander around. She added, “By the way, the engagement cancellation banquet is tomorrow. Later, go buy some decent clothes so you don’t look sloppy.”

Layla didn’t know what to say “Come back early, or we won’t wait for you.” 

Upon seeing Madeline leave, Henry drove over. 

“Where are you going? I’ll drive you there,” Henry offered. 

“No need. I’ll just buy some clothes at a nearby mall and come bark quickly,” she replied. 

Henry nodded. “Okay.” He seemed a bit awkward. “Should I transfer you some money?”

Madeline directly stopped a taxi.

Madeline was in a mixed mood. 

She gazed at the scattered clouds in the sky, her heart feeling like it was being clenched by a big hand. 

It was hard to say whether she was feeling relief or not. 

It was just a little heavy. 

Her phone rang. 

Madeline answered it. 

“Maddie, have you finally left the Larson family? Come back quickly. We will stand up for you. Caleb Simmons said in a refreshing and rebellious voice, “They don’t love you, but I do. And I will always love you.” 

“Caleb, are you annoying or what?” Madeline rubbed her temples. “Stop rushing me. I have something important to do. You’ve been blowing up my phone. Let’s reduce our contact to avoid drawing attention.”
