The two of them walked quietly along the desolate path, neither of them saying a word, just like before. The silence stretched on until suddenly, Teresa sneezed.

Anox turned to look at her and noticed that Teresa was wearing very light clothing.

"Why are you dressed so lightly?" he asked.

"Well, the weather was nice this morning, so I didn't wear my big coat... I didn't expect it to get this cold tonight," she replied while shivering slightly.

Seeing Teresa trembling from the cold, Anox instinctively took off his scarf and gently wrapped it around her neck, skillfully securing it. Then, he asked in a soft voice, "How does that feel? A little better now?"

Teresa nodded slightly, burying her face in the scarf. Her cheeks, along with her ears, were flushed red—whether from the cold or something else, it was hard to tell.

Anox then took off his gloves and slipped them onto her hands.

"You don't have pockets in your clothes, so wear these for now."

"Okay," Teresa murmured.

They continued walking, but just as they were about to move forward again, Teresa grabbed onto the edge of Anox's coat.

Anox turned to her, his voice still soft and warm. "What's wrong? Are you still cold? We can walk faster if you want."

However, Teresa shook her head.

"I... I..." she stammered, her hands trembling, just like Anox's. Both of them stood frozen for a moment, unable to find the words.

It seemed that Anox had finally made a decision. He slowly reached out and took Teresa's gloved hand in his.

"I-It's okay... Take your time. I'm here," he reassured her.

Teresa's eyes widened in disbelief. She looked up at him in astonishment. Anox still wore that same gentle expression, and through the glove, she could feel the warmth of his hand.

It felt just like it had all those years ago.

Without saying another word, the two continued walking hand in hand, making their way down the road toward Teresa's house.

Both of them knew it was time to say goodbye. Teresa lowered her head, and her voice began to choke up with emotion.

"Goodnight," she managed to say.

"Goodnight," Anox replied before turning to head back home.

Even so, Teresa did not move. She did not return to her house or look back. Instead, she stood there, filled with self-loathing.

She hated herself for her cowardice, for letting her insecurities keep her from confessing to Anox. Once again, she had missed her chance. How many more would she get?

Halfway home, Anox stopped in his tracks. He could hear Teresa softly crying behind him.
