"Victor, if you don't like what I'm doing, you know you can just tell me," Isadora said quietly.
Victor waved his hand, and with practiced discretion, the servants, stylists, and makeup artists slipped out of the room, leaving the two of them alone.
Something was different about Isadora today. He couldn't quite put his finger on it—maybe it was the way she looked at him, or perhaps the fact that she was standing so close.
Victor's eyes darkened as he became aware of the softness beneath his touch. His Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed, his voice slow and deliberate. "If you like it, then I'll like it too."
Isadora fluttered her lashes. "So, if I actually wore that sexy dress out tonight, what would you do?"
Victor narrowed his eyes, a dangerous glint flickering in their depths. "Trying to get a rise out of me, are you?"
Without waiting for her answer, he pulled her into his arms, his hand slipping boldly under the hem of her dress.
She squeaked, squirming. "Victor, that tickles—"
"Will you still dare to tease me, hmm?" he murmured, his tone low and warning.
She shook her head frantically. "No, not anymore... Victor, if you keep this up, I'll— I'll get mad..."
After a playful struggle, Isadora finally settled on a black evening gown.
Normally, her figure barely hinted at the gentle curve of her stomach, but the fitted dress revealed just enough. The gown was strapless, crafted from the finest satin, with a skirt that cascaded in rippling layers, reminiscent of rolling waves.
Once she slipped it on, Isadora looked like an enchanting sprite—mysterious and irresistible. Her fair skin was set off by the deep black of the dress, making her seem almost luminous, as if her complexion were carved from the purest ivory, inviting a touch.
When Victor saw Isadora step out of the room, his gaze was intense, tracing her silhouette from head to toe, then back up again, finally coming to rest on her face.
Under his scrutiny, Isadora shifted self-consciously. "Does it look bad?"
Victor's eyes smoldered, something dark flickering beneath the surface. He leaned in, murmuring against her ear, "You're so beautiful, I want to hide you away just for myself."
Isadora flushed, giving him a playful shove. "In your dreams."
Tonight, Victor wore a tailored black three-piece suit, a classic Windsor knot in his tie, and a neatly folded pocket square at his chest. He exuded elegance and authority—the kind of man who drew every gaze the moment he walked into a room.
Isadora squirmed under the weight of so many appraising looks.
Victor paused, glancing at her. "What's wrong?"
She tugged lightly at his hand. "Don't you feel like half the women in this room want to undress you with their eyes?"
Victor's sharp gaze swept lazily across the room. "Funny, I was thinking the men are just as bad, staring at you like wolves. So stay close, alright? Don't go wandering off."
Wouldn't want anyone trying to steal you away.
Especially not that Terrell—yet another would-be rival who'd shown up lately. Victor didn't consider him a real threat, but he was still an annoyance.
And he'd rather not have to deal with that tonight.
