She’d been drinking that night. In a moment of drunken madness, as she turned away, she grabbed a paring knife from the table and drove it straight into the woman’s body.

Olivia could still remember the look of utter disbelief in her old nanny’s eyes.

But Olivia felt no guilt.

After all, it was the nanny who’d always claimed to love her—who’d once said she’d give her life for Olivia’s sake.

So, really, Olivia had only helped her keep her word.

She stubbed out her cigarette in the ashtray with a sharp, decisive twist. Her tone was icy. “Yes, it was me. If she hadn’t died, who knows whether they’d have come looking for me next?”

Sally swallowed hard and glanced nervously at the table, relieved to see there were no sharp implements lying around.

She gave a shaky thumbs-up. “Damn, Olivia. That’s cold.”

A cruel smile flickered across Olivia’s lips. “Cold? Please. Or are you suggesting it was my idea to let that bitch Isadora into the warehouse, unlock the freezer, and try to freeze her to death?”

“Shame, really, that woman and her baby made it out just fine. If she’d lost the child, she’d have no leverage left. Victor wouldn’t be jumping through hoops for her.”

Maybe, just maybe, she’d have a shot at becoming Victor’s wife herself.

In another VIP room at the salon, Daisy walked in and spotted the elegant woman lounging on the sofa.

“I’ve done as you asked,” Daisy reported quietly. “The recorder’s in place.”

Nanette looked up and smiled. “Thank you.”

She took a credit card from her purse and offered it.

Daisy hesitated, not taking it.

Nanette raised her eyebrows. “Something wrong?”

Daisy looked a little embarrassed. “Well... our whole village is obsessed with you. You don’t need to pay me, Nanette—could I have your autograph instead?”

She’d nearly lost her baby because of Olivia—there was no way she’d let her walk away unscathed.

Nanette eyed Isadora, who was still confined to bed, and gave her a teasing wink.

“I’ve got to say, the crown prince is really spoiling you. He won’t even let you get out of bed before the doctors clear you. Feeds you, helps you shower... I bet he’s been doing a lot more than that, huh?”

Isadora’s cheeks went bright pink as last night’s steamy memories flooded back.

Nanette pinched her rosy earlobe, grinning slyly. “Come on, don’t be shy with me. I’ve got a man too, you know. Didn’t you say your prince went at it seven times in one night? Mine’s alright—five times if he tries really hard.”

At the doorway, Victor and Finley exchanged dark, incredulous looks.

Victor: You manage five times in a night?

Finley: You went seven? In one night?
