Chapter 146 

Astrid was about making her way around the table to attack June when their grandmother stopped her. 

“Astrid! Take your seat. Now!” She ordered. 

Astrid stopped in her tracks, her eyes spitting fire at June who still looked furious. 

Somehow, Sylvie felt like herself was in danger. Even if she hadn’t said a word, she was kind of the root of the problem. 

Scarlett pulled at her daughter’s hand, and finally, Astrid returned to her seat. 

“Are you two done displaying your madness?” Galen asked, his voice composed. 

The two Ladies didn’t utter a response. 

“Good. As I was saying, the Queen has chosen to work with Sylvie. I understand that you all had been working on various designs for her, but this was her decision, not mine. Or did you expect me to turn down her request and insist she sticks to the first plan where she has to check your individual designs?” 

He glared at both of them, and they looked away. 

He shifted his gaze to Sylvie. “Like i said, you’ve done really well. For the meantime, you’ll be moving to a more appropriate position in the company.” 

The girls who had been looking away in anger, suddenly shifted their attention back to Galen. 

“I’m making you the Chief Financial Officer of Astréa Label.” 

The table went eerily quiet, broken only by Sylvie’s stunned gasp. Her hands flew to her mouth, her eyes rounding in shock.

“You don’t have to say anything. Just continue doing the good work,” Galen said with a nod. “I was proud of you last night, Sylvie.” 

Astrid had her mouth agap in shock. June’s face was so red, it might end up in flames if the color got any hotter. 

Everyone at the table appeared greatly shocked and displeased, including Natalie who even threw her gaze away. It was obvious she must’ve argued with Galen about it. 

“D… Don’t you think it’s a little too much, Dad?” Scarlett asked, forcing a chuckle. 

“Now, you’re dictating my actions? What exactly makes it too much?” He snapped. “Of…of course, I’d never do that, dad. I was just being concerned 

Galen was about saying something in response when he broke into a series of cough. 

Francesca helped him with a glass of water, while Natalie rubbed circles on his back. 

“Calm down. You’re fine,” Natalie cooed. 

After a minute, the cough subsided, and Galen finally regained his breath: 

“One more thing, Sylvie,” he spoke in a strained voice, clicking his fingers towards one of the maids who had been standing by the dining room.

The woman hurriedly stepped forward, presenting him with some documents which he dropped in front of Sylvie. “Those are documents to a Duplex. Your Duplex.” 

Her jaw dropped. “It’s the gift I promised for getting the Timeless Tale deal.” 

“Jesus Christ.” June muttered in her seat, 

It was as if the surprises had no intention of stopping any time soon. 

Sylvie looked at the documents in shock, too stunned to even open them. 

“A… A Duplex?” She paled. 

“It’s nothing compared to what you’ve done for myself and the company these past few weeks.” 

She tried to stop it but couldn’t. In the end, tears spilled her cheeks. 

“T–Thank you do much, sir. I don’t… I don’t think I deserve this. Thank you!” 

If only she wasn’t so weary of him, she’d have ran over to give him a tight hug.
