She knew Gareth had an excellent memory.

However, she hesitated for a moment in front of him before finally taking back her phone. "Did you get it? When you invite her out, remember to call me as well. I need to go home now. Just let me have some peace."

"No." Gareth firmly held onto Elisa. "I've already explained the reasons to you. There are many people like Baxter out there, and I'm worried something might happen to you. I can't let you go alone right now."

Elisa stared at his hand, her gaze determined, wanting Gareth to let go. But Gareth didn't. He knew Elisa was tempted to strike him, but he also knew she would never actually do it.

Unfortunately, he was mistaken. Elisa applied slight pressure to his vein, and though Gareth felt the force, he didn't furrow his brow.

For Linda, that was a condemnation that struck her to the core. Although her father had let her mother down, he had treated her extremely well.

As a daughter, she had failed in her duty to protect her own father.

She hadn't had the opportunity to carry out her plans recently, which left her feeling anxious. However, she couldn't just rashly appear in front of Elisa again, as it would give herself away.

So, when Elisa's call came through, Linda was overjoyed and excited as she saw the flashing phone number. "Liz?"

"Yes. I've been busy lately and only just saw your message. I'm really sorry. About the Western Suburbs project you mentioned, even Mr. Darcey has been pressuring me about it. How about this? When are you free? We could arrange to meet." Elisa heard a slight tremble in Linda's voice, and she couldn't help but smile. "Linda has taken the bait. That's great!"
