At Elisa's place, the doorbell rang.

Gareth accompanied her, although he didn't continue following her. However, his timing was in line with Gareth's temperament.

Impatiently, she swung the door open.

"Oh, so you're at home!"

Joyful words greeted Elisa, surprising her. "Grandma, why are you here?"

Julia's unexpected visit left Elisa puzzled, as she hadn't given any prior notice.

Especially at this crucial moment, it seemed unlikely for Julia to come looking for her.

"I came to drop off some stuff for that rascal Gareth, and I was hoping to see if you were home. I must admit, I was harboring a sliver of hope and expectation. But luckily, you're home." Julia's face broke into a smile, a stark contrast to her recent indifference toward Elisa.

Elisa also noticed the thermal flask she was carrying in her hand.

Elisa welcomed Julia through the door. "Grandma, I actually haven't been back for long. Have you finished preparing the things for Gareth?"

"Oh, I've asked Thomas to move the stuff. This is the chicken soup that I have stewed. It's still warm. You should try it quickly," said Julia as she hurriedly handed the thermal flask to Elisa.

Julia's kindness was something Elisa couldn't refuse. But given her current situation, it felt really strange.

Just as she settled down on the sofa with her grandmother, her phone rang.

Upon pulling out her phone, Elisa's heart sank at the sight of the caller ID.

"Grandma, please sit for a while, I need to take a call." Saying this, Elisa got up and walked toward the balcony.

Julia was somewhat surprised by this evasion.

Winslow didn't immediately respond to Elisa's words, but after a brief silence, he agreed with Elisa's decision, "Then you should take a flight tonight. Can you manage it yourself? If not, I can arrange it for you."

Elisa declined his offer of help, saying, "Uncle Winslow, I can handle this little matter myself. I'll start packing up here."

After Elisa agreed, Winslow didn't say anything else to her. After hanging up the phone, Elisa walked back to her bedroom from the balcony.
