Kenneth’s secretary paused, subtly hiding the document behind him. “It’s nothing. Just an ordinary file.”

Helen glanced at the secretary, didn’t utter a word, and waved her hand dismissively.

The secretary breathed a sigh of relief, left the documents in the study, and then departed from the Carston residence.

Helen watched the secretary’s retreating figure, a nagging suspicion creeping in. He seems to be acting rather evasively, as if he’s hiding something from me.

She picked up the watering can, intending to water the potted plants in the study. In passing, she glanced at the desk but didn’t see the document the secretary had brought.

This only piqued Helen’s curiosity even more.

She set the watering can aside, then rummaged through the desk for a while.

Eventually, the file that the secretary had just delivered was found at the very bottom of the third drawer

When she opened it, Helen’s eyes widened abruptly, her expression frozen in shock.

Inside the folder was a DNA test report.

The results showed that sample A and sample B shared a biological father–daughter relationship.

It was a private assessment, hence the results did not disclose the identities of sample A and sample B.

Even then, the fact the DNA test report was delivered to Kenneth undoubtedly confirmed that sample A

was his.

Kenneth has an illegitimate daughter!

Helen was instantly consumed by rage, shaking with anger. She could turn a blind eye to his philandering. but the fact that he had fathered a child who now threatened her and her daughter’s inheritance was something she couldn’t tolerate.

After some thought, she made note of the testing facility’s name and the date of commission, returning the documents to their original place. Then, she hurriedly made her way to the hospital ward.

“Kenneth, that heartless good–for–nothing! His own daughter is injured and in the hospital, but he doesn’t even bother to visit. All he does is mess around outside. He’ll end up dead due to his womanizing ways one day!” Helen ranted as she entered the ward.

Susanna was nursing a splitting headache. “Mom, what are you doing here again?”

“Isn’t it obvious it’s for your sake? 1 only found out today that your father has an illegitimate daughter out there. I fear it won’t be long before we, mother and daughter, are kicked out!” Helen said through gritted teeth.

“What’s going on? Tell me clearly!” Susanna demanded, her expression serious.

Even though her father hadn’t amounted to much, he still held some shares. As the Carston family business grew, these shares became increasingly valuable. The Carston family’s success today was undeniably due to their collaboration with Fuller Group, and this was all because of her. 

Thus, the shares held by her father should be hers.

Although the amount was insignificant compared to Fuller Group, she would never give anything away for nothing

Helen recounted the situation earlier. “I had a hunch that Mr. Walker was acting suspiciously, and I was right! I just don’t know who that little wretch mentioned in the DNA test report is. If I find out, I’ll skin her alive!”

“It’s better if fewer people know about such matters. I reckon only Mr. Walker is handling it. He should know who the girl is.”

After some thought, Susanna reached for her phone and dialed a number.

The call was answered swiftly from the other end. A girl’s voice filled with surprise and delight. “Ms. Carston, to what do I owe this honor to? Is there something you need? Has there been an issue with Derek’s work?”

The girl was Derek’s girlfriend. She had tried to curry favor with Susanna before, but Susanna didn’t see much value in her.

“It’s not about work. How’s your relationship with him been recently?”

The girl paused for a moment. “It’s great. He said he wants to propose to me!”

“Ms. Carston, is there a problem?” 

“I’m not sure if I should tell you this, but on the seventeenth, I saw him with another woman. He seemed to be carrying something and went to the obstetrics and gynecology department of Harmony Hospital..
