Chapter 24 Save My Child
Lenora quickly closed her eyes, pretending to be asleep.
Don’t see me, don’t see me, don’t see me… She silently repeated in her heart.
Yet, her body was subtly trembling, revealing her emotions beyond any doubt.
The footsteps of the man were getting closer and closer.
He walked toward the bed.
Lenora’s heart leapt into her throat.
Suddenly, a chill ran through her body as the blanket was lifted off.

Startled, Lenora froze in place. Her eyes were tightly shut, her legs stiffened, and she silently repeated to herself, I am sleeping, I am sleeping. As long as I can’t see his face, he won’t kill me.
“I know you’re awake. Open your eyes and look at me, or else face the consequences.” The man whispered softly into her ear, his breath cool against her skin.
Lenora’s mind went blank. She opened her eyes in fear, her voice trembling as she said, “I’m opening my eyes, please don’t kill me, please don’t kill-
In the middle of her sentence, she clearly saw the man’s face before her.
It was none other than Zachary.
Lenora’s expression completely froze, her face showing a mix of fear, confusion, and a touch of embarrassment.
She forgot that Zachary was still at home, and with the mansion’s strict security, there was no way anyone could break in.
Lenora blinked. “Why are you here?”
“There’s thunder outside. I was
our after their marriage that. Worried you might not be able to sleep.” Zachary only found
fearless outside the house.

Lenora pursed her lips, “I’m not having trouble sleeping.”

“Then, should I leave now?” Zachary made a move to stand up from the bed.

She rolled over, facing inward, and muttered under her breath, “Leave if you want to.”
The sound of departing footsteps echoed from behind as the door swung open and closed.
He really left. Tears welled in Lenora’s eyes.
She sniffed. I knew it. Zachary doesn’t really care about me. He’s just putting up an act. If that’s the case, why did he bother to come? Why did he give me hope only to let me down? Although, isn’t Zachary always like this?
“You wanted me to leave, didn’t you? Why are you crying now?” A voice echoed in Lenora’s ear, causing her to stiffen.
She abruptly turned around and found Zachary standing by the bed. “You… You didn’t leave?”
“I didn’t leave.” Zachary sat on the edge of the bed, turning to lie down.
He reached out and gently patted Lenora’s shoulder. “All right, go to sleep. I’ll stay here with you. Once you’re asleep, I’ll leave.”
Lenora gave a noncommittal, “Mhm.” Oh Zachary, why must you be this way? You’ll treat me harshly then nicely. I know his tenderness is like arsenic, poisoning me to the marrow, yet I can’t bring myself to push him away.
Eventually, she fell asleep.
The next day, Lenora woke up to find Zachary was no longer by her side. The doors and windows were tightly shut, as if Zachary had never been there at all.
After washing herself, Lenora had breakfast and headed to the office. She spent half the day engrossed in work before finally making her way to the photography studio in the afternoon.
After a day of adjustment, the shooting speed noticeably increased, and Susanna gradually hit her stride.
During the break, Fiona showed Lenora some photos she had taken that day with her
camera.
Upon hearing the sound, Lenora looked up, only to realize that she had been pushed forcefully.
She was so upset she couldn’t even feel the pain in her ankle. In his eyes, there is only Susanna. All he could see is Susanna.
