Clara frowned. Her voice was hoarse with irritation. “Why do I need to care who his girlfriend is? We’ve been over for ages.”

Without wasting a moment, Clara opened the video. lan, dressed to the nines in a sleek black suit, was seated at his office desk for an interview, discussing matters of economic development. 

As the interview neared its end, the host threw a curveball, “Many of our viewers are curious about the injury on Mr. Hayes‘ forehead. Would you care to shed some light on the matter?” 

With an unfazed expression, lan glanced at the camera. His voice was deep and mellifluous. “I annoyed her and she hit me in the heat of the moment.” 

The host, evidently excited, pressed on, “Could Mr. Hayes reveal any details about this person?” 

There was a glint in lan’s dark eyes, and he chuckled ever so slightly. 

“I haven’t won her back yet, so I can’t say too much. If I do, she’ll just get mad and give me an earful later.” 

He managed to deliver the line with a sultry, heartfelt undertone. His eyes brimmed with the indulgence one might reserve for a beloved pet. It was as if none of their unpleasant past had ever occurred. 

This off–the–cuff moment, meant to be a mere outtake, ended up edited and posted on social media, where it skyrocketed to the top of the trending searches. 

lan wasn’t a showbiz celebrity, but his popularity was on par with the biggest stars.

Now, with the sudden revelation of a girlfriend one he hadn’t yet wooed back, no less and her seemingly barbaric tendencies, the internet was in an uproar. 

lan was the crown prince of the Hayes family, a titan of Northbridge. Countless women schemed to share his bed, and here was someone who not only spurned his affections but had the audacity to strike him. 

The entire net was abuzz, trying to identify this ferocious girlfriend. She had such a catch of a man, but she didn’t cherish him. She even went as far as domestic violence. 

The more Clara read the comments, the angrier she became. She knew this was lan’s doing. He was using this tactic to force her hand.

Clara bit her lip in frustration and opened her social media app.

Dawson, fully aware of his boss‘ antics, couldn’t help but revel in his disappointment. Without sugarcoating it, he drove the knife deeper, “Mr. Hayes, Attorney Clara clarified on her social media right away. She announced she’s ‘single since birth‘ and ‘waiting to be charmed.” 

When he heard this, lan’s previously amused eyes suddenly froze. He quickly checked Clara’s social media. 

Single since birth? What did their three years together mean then? 

And what in the world was “waiting to be charmed“? Was she in such a rush to find a new prospect to avoid any association with him? 

Seated in his chair, lan stared at Clara’s social media feed for ages. 

Thanks to her knockout looks that put showbiz to shame, coupled with her stellar courtroom performance, she had amassed a legion of fans, men and women alike. They were all calling her “babe” and “look my way!” 

Reading those endearments, lan was so enraged he felt like he could spit blood. She was his woman, but he had never even called her “babe.” By what right did they?
