Clara was floored by Heidi’s ability to twist the truth into pretzels. She had her suspicions, sure, but how could everything be such a crazy coincidence? 

Heidi was rushed to the hospital for an emergency, and right after, Clara’s cry for help call came in. And now it was all starting to make sense. It was a trap, all intricately laid out for her. The goal? To show her that lan would never choose her to break her heart for good.

However, Heidi hadn’t expected lan to break the mold and choose to save Clara this time. Clara’s lips curled into a smirk as she faced Heidi. “Oh, you got me! How’d you figure out my master plan? It’s almost like you were in on it.” 

Heidi was thrown for a loop by Clara’s unexpected play. 

Wasn’t she supposed to deny everything? Why was she so casually confessing? And she was now even pointing fingers at her? 

Inside, Heidi cursed Clara to high heaven. When it came to a war of words, she admitted. defeat to Clara. She had seen Clara in action in the courtroom. 

All Heidi could do was play the victim card. With a look of utter distress, she turned to lan. “lan, I’m not blaming Clara, and I don’t want to dig into who stirred up trouble at the office. It’s just… seeing you hurt like that, and my leg…” She paused, with a tear trickling down her cheek. “The doctors say I might never dance again.” 

Anyone would feel a pang of sympathy, but lan didn’t even glance her way. Instead, he took Clara’s hand. His voice was tinged with exasperation. “Silly girl! You only settle for a measly ten million? You could ask for a billion, or even my life, and I wouldn’t hesitate.” 

Heidi was stunned. Ian knew it was a setup by Clara. However, not only did he not blame her, but also he even made such a declaration. 

Heidi couldn’t believe it was real. He must be saying this just to spite her. lan was too proud a man to throw his life away for a woman. 

Heidi clenched her fists so tightly that her nails dug into her palms, but she didn’t flinch at the pain. 

That was when Dawson walked in with an update. “Mr. Hayes, the two suspects have confessed.” 

Han’s gaze hardened. “What did they say?” 

Dawson glanced at Clara before speaking. “They claim it was Attorney Clara who put them up to it. 

Clara met lan’s gaze with undisguised scorn. “With all this evidence, looks like I’m in for a real tight spct.” 

Heidi’s eyes briefly flickered with triumph, which was quickly replaced by an innocent facade. Her voice carried a hint of pleading. “lan, Clara did it out of jealousy. There’s no real harm meant. Just give her a slap on the wrist, okay? Don’t send her to jail. She’s worked so hard to build her career in law. If word gets out, how’s she supposed to survive?” 

It sounded like she was interceding for Clara, but in truth, it was a veiled threat. 

Just as Heidi thought she had everything sewn up, lan’s deep, magnetic voice filled the room. His gaze on Clara was intense, and his tone was casual yet commanding. “How should I punish you, then? How about you be my wife for a lifetime?”
