"A-Are you possessed or something?" Yvette asked Theo. She pointed at him, giving off the most dramatic response among them.

Lowering her hand, Simon chuckled and instead suggested, "Instead of sitting here, doing nothing, why don't we find something fun to do? How about poker?"

The others were on board with his idea. They pulled up chairs and sat around the table, unwrapping a brand-new deck of poker cards.

This was the first time Sierra played a game of poker with them. So, Theo sat next to her, ready to give his advice. A knowing smile spread across Daniel, Simon, and Yvette's faces.

"Theo has swept the board in poker every year. Now, we can finally get some of our money back." Yvette rubbed her hands eagerly. Daniel and Simon didn't share her optimism, but they were also fired up to win the game.

At first, Sierra wasn't used to poker and kept losing money. Theo didn't say anything about it. Instead, he comforted her and told her that it was fine.

After several rounds, she gradually got used to the game. Not intending to embarrass him, she started playing smartly. Shortly after, she won the next round and giddily turned around to celebrate her victory with him.

"I won. Did you see it?" Sierra giggled as she tugged at his sleeves and shook his hand, unknowingly acting sweet.

Theo nodded, rubbed her hair, and replied approvingly, "You're wonderful. Keep going."

She nodded firmly and rolled up her sleeves, looking like she was getting ready for a big tussle.

Yvette tossed her cards on the table and gritted her teeth. "Why did you single me out at the end of the round? I'm so going to win the next round."

Things took a drastic turn afterward. Sierra no longer kept losing. Instead, Yvette started losing the game more than everyone at the table.

By the time Douglas and Melody, who was wrapped in a cotton coat, returned, all of them were having a blast with the game.

Yvette heard Melody's cynical remarks, stuck her tongue out, and acted as if she was about to barf. She was about to speak up for Sierra, but Simon immediately tossed two cards onto the table.

"Ms. Jones, how did you seem to know me so well? Did you investigate me?" Sierra maintained a faint smile, but she avoided Melody's question.

Melody was stumped, never once expecting Sierra to be this blunt. Brushing her hair uneasily, she elaborated, "Not at all. My friend told me about you."

"I was wrong to have said what I said. I'm sorry, Sierra." Douglas chuckled nervously and spoke up before Sierra could say anything.

"I've never won against Theo in poker. Now that he's not playing, I thought I could get some of my money back. I let the moment get to my head and spoke without thinking." To help Melody out, he apologized and made fun of himself.

Giggling, Sierra decided she would let them off the hook. "If you want to play, I can let you take my place."

Douglas could feel Theo's icy gaze, and he hurriedly raised his hand to reject her offer. "I-It's okay. I'm all good. If you're not playing, I won't be able to win against anyone. Am I right? I'll just wait for Simon to give up his seat."
