Rachel wore a champagne–colored silk dress with a light–colored suit. 

The hem of Rachel’s dress swayed in the wind, drawing beautiful arcs, revealing her straight and tanned calves. 

Rachel’s beauty had always been willful and rampant. Even if it was a casual 

glance, it was enough to make people focus all their attention on her. 

Especially at this moment when Rachel was silent, the coldness that 

assaulted her face was harder to ignore. 

Louis turned to look at the car beside him. 

The car window was dark, so Louis could not see the face of the person in the car clearly. However, Louis‘ intuition told him that the man in the car was the man he had seen previously. 

Perhaps it was Louis‘ pride at play, or Louis just wanted to prove in another way that he was unique to Rachel. 

Louis pondered for a moment and said slowly, “Can we talk in private?” 

Rachel chuckled with a faint mocking look in her eyes. “Let’s just talk here. After all, my boyfriend gets jealous easily.” 

Louis felt as if his heart had been ruthlessly stabbed by something. A dense pain surged up bit by bit. 

His hands, which had been hanging by his sides, suddenly tightened., 

“Mr. Smith, did you come here just to clench your fists?” Rachel’s gaze swept past Louis‘ clenched hands and sneered blatantly. 

Louis was stunned for a moment. He took a deep breath and took a bank card from his pocket. “Take this. The password is your birthday.” 

Rachel raised her eyebrows slightly. “Mr. Smith, what do you mean by this?” 

“I’m here to apologize on behalf of Jane… No, I’m here to apologize to you on behalf of the entire Smith family.” Louis paused for a second before he explained sincerely, “Jane is young and impulsive. Don’t hold it against her. This time, the Smith family has let you down. Take this money as our compensation to you.” 

Rachel’s lips curled into a faint smile. Rachel lowered her eyes slightly to hide the expression in her eyes. 

However, the casual aura around her was gone. Instead, it was filled with bloodthirsty ruthlessness. 

Suddenly, Rachel chuckled. “What’s this? The carrot–and–stick approach?” 

Her words were filled with sarcasm. 

Louis felt a burning sensation on his face. He licked his dry lips and said in a low and hoarse voice, “This matter started because of me. I’m sorry. I 

apologize to you.” 

“If an apology suffices, bad karma wouldn’t have existed in this world!” Rachel interrupted Louis coldly. “An apology isn’t enough to undo what you 

did to me this time!” 

Louis‘ expression froze, and a hint of panic flashed across his eyes. “I’ve never expected you to forgive me just like that. I merely hope that I can do my best to make it up to you. I know very well what you’ve done for the Smith family all these years. I’m grateful to you from the bottom of my heart. However, gratitude is one thing, feelings are another.” 

“You know that I don’t love you. If I had married you, you would only be more hurt, right?” 

Rachel looked at Louis mockingly. “Who would be more hurt, Olivia or me?” 

“Do you need me to help you recall why I was kidnapped?” The mocking smile on Rachel’s face disappeared. Her sharp gaze was like a sharp knife that stabbed straight at Louis. “You said personally that you would dine with me after work, and then we would choose my wedding dress. I waited downstairs foolishly, but where were you?” 

“You were probably sleeping with Olivia at that time and had forgotten about everything else!” 

Louis‘ pupils constricted, and his eyes trembled violently. It was as if 

someone had a fatal hold on him. His face turned uncontrollably pale.
