She swallowed harshly, "I fine sweetheart." She kissed Lily head before making her way over to me. "You okay?" I nodded, not wanting to lie. "Good." She turned around to Edward. "Explain." She ordered him.
From the corner of my eyes, I could see Lily answer her phone. From the sound of it, it was Ellie asking if everyone was okay. Unfortunately, Lily had to relay the message that things weren't and couldn't stop the tears that came with that.
"I not certain if this is all true." He tread lightly.
"Just spill it goddammit." Lisa barked at him.
"Okay." He looked down in shame. "So there was this girl..."
From there Edward begins to explain the deep dark secret that Paul was hiding. From the couch, I watched as Lisa, one of the strongest women I ever met go through heartbreak. Periodically I would feel shocks of pain but I managed to keep quiet about it, the pain that I was feeling was nothing compared to what was going on.
LUNA ALEX
Before Paul and Lisa had mated he had been involved with another woman. Shortly after he had met Lisa he had kicked her out of the pack and unknowingly she had been pregnant with his child. Maxwell Steward.
A few years back Max had gotten in touch with Paul. He was living with a group of rogues and had been going low on money and supplies. With Paul being his father Max had assumed that Paul would come to his aid and allow him to join his family. Unfortunately, Paul thought of Max as being the poison that could ruin his family, he wrote him a nice check and sent Max away. For him to only come back a year later and attack his pack along with many others, and now he was back again. This time stronger, wiser and even more pissed off.
"Why didn't he just tell me; we could have worked things out?" Lisa cried to Edward who had just finished telling us all of Paul's deep dark secrets.
He sighed. "He thought that it could ruin your guy's family."
She forced a laugh, "Well that's exactly what it's doing now."
"I'm sorry that this is the way you had to find out," Edward told her apologetically.
She took a long pause, "Who knew about this, besides you?"
"Is this necec-?" Edward started only to be cut off by a pissed off Lisa.
"I want to know, now." She demanded using a voice that I had never heard from her before.
'Yes' echoed throughout the room.
"Luna." I turned to see a young teenage girl with dark red hair. "Was Alpha Paul found?"
I sighed, "Unfortunately, no he was not. But everyone is out looking for him." I reassured her.
"Okay." She looked down sadly.
"I have to go back upstairs but I'll be back to check on you guys."
They all nodded and I headed back upstairs. Just as I entered Ryan's office his phone rang. I picked it up, "Hello."
There was a paused before the person on the other end said anything. "Working together is our only option."
I instantly recognized the voice as being Hailee's. She had been the one earlier today to warn us and for that, I was grateful to her. "Agreed."
