Chapter 39

Noelle had always found Cedric mysterious.

Cedric answered her question directly saying, “Yes, he and I are friends. The house you’re currently living in belongs to him.” Friends were meant to be used as shields after all.

Cedric turned to enter the private room as a waiter walked over respectfully. “Mr. Greene, here

is the menu.”

“Hand it to her,” Cedric said as he sat down. He laid back lazily on his chair with his arm resting on the side, revealing an inch of his arm.

Noelle did not take the menu either. Instead, she said, “You can just serve a few of your signature dishes.”

She had been here once in her past life, and she knew that the restaurant did not have a fixed menu. They would rotate their menu everyday and serve their customers whatever they had prepared on that day. However, the fact that the waiter had handed Cedric a menu only meant that Cedric’s friend’s identity was indeed extraordinary.

At that moment, Noelle’s phone began to vibrate. She noticed that it was Frank calling, so she ignored it. However, Frank quickly sent her a message.

His message read, “Noelle, that restaurant has closed its doors and cleared out its customers for some urgent reason. We’re waiting outside in the parking lot. Where are you?”

Noelle was filled with confusion as she read Frank’s text. The restaurant was obviously still operating. She considered that Cedric had perhaps asked his wealthy friend for a favor.

After giving it some thought, she replied to Frank, “You guys can take your leave first.”

Frank proceeded to question her about her location, but she ignored his following messages.

When she looked up, she was met with Cedric’s dark gaze. He asked, “Was that your brother, Frank?”

“Yeah. He just left.”

“Alright. We’ll be able to enjoy our meal now.” Cedric was extremely calm, as if everything that had just happened was completely normal.

Noelle found the situation strange. She could not help but question if he was really just a doctor. He did not seem like someone with such a simple identity.

However, she quickly dismissed her thoughts, believing that she was just overthinking things. If Cedric truly had a strong background, then why would he work as a mere high school doctor?

Perhaps he had only asked his friend for a favor so he could stand up for her. She couldn’t help

Chapter 39

When Cedric saw the smile on her face, he knew that she had her own plans. Thus, he held back the words that had been at the tip of his tongue. He understood that he had no right to interfere with her life.

Once they were done eating, Cedric looked at her and asked, “What else do you want to do?” Noelle considered his question before saying, “I want to play the game and grind dungeons.” At the moment, grinding dungeons in the game was her only way of relieving stress.

As Cedric stood, Noelle observed his tall figure. Remembering that she had seen him with a beautiful woman sometime earlier, she asked, “Why are you here today? Were you planning to have a meal with someone?”

Cedric stood by the elevator and paused momentarily. Then, he said, “I had something to take care of.”

Noelle pursed her lips. Was it really just something he had to take care of? A date could indeed be considered an important matter to take care of.

Realizing that her emotions were slightly off, she quickly collected her emotions. The man who she had feelings for should be her online lover from her past life, the man who would

appear before her once she took her college entrance exam.

Cedric treated her very well. There was a high chance that he had only felt sympathetic for her

in the beginning, but he had ended up giving her a tremendous amount of help later on.

She could not let their relationship change into something awkward or complicated.
