Chapter 51

Noelle subconsciously frowned when she heard Xenia’s voice.

Xenia had already run under Noelle’s umbrella as the former held her bag over her head to shield herself from the rain. She put on an innocent expression and said, “I lent my umbrella to a classmate. Could we share?”

“No,” Noelle said before turning and walking away without glancing at Xenia.

Xenia stood there in disbelief, quickly getting soaked by the rain. She could not believe that Noelle dared to refuse to help her in front of so many people!

Her expression darkened. Initially, she wanted to use this opportunity to mend her relationship with Noelle. She had noticed the changes in Frank and Lucas, so she was filled with worry. She wondered if she would still have a place within the Liddells if they had reconciled with Noelle and coaxed her to return home. Hence, she decided to try to make amends with Noelle.

Xenia never thought that Noelle would outright reject her. However, since that was the case, she felt that Noelle should not blame her for being cruel.

Alfred had been watching everything unfold from inside the black luxury car. “Nelly seems to have quite the temper. She just rejected that girl without hesitation.”

Cedric’s gaze was dark as he said, “One cannot be too kind.”

Xenia had been the one behind most of Noelle’s sufferings. Although her brothers may be blind to it, he knew that Xenia was not a simple girl.

When Noelle arrived at her classroom, she hung her umbrella at the back of the room. After a while, Xenia entered the class, wholly drenched and looking extremely pitiful.

Even Lionel could not help but ask, “Xenia, did you not bring an umbrella with you today? Why are you completely drenched? You’ll get a cold if you stay soaked throughout class.”

Xenia’s complexion was pale as she said, “I’ll be fine.”

Betty immediately exclaimed, “It’s all because Noelle had abandoned Xenia and walked away with her umbrella. She’s the reason why Xenia is soaked. She’s horrible.”

Noelle’s expression was filled with frustration. They were coming at her again.

Lionel coughed and did not question them further. “Alright then. Let’s start with today’s lesson.‘

Xenia was left standing awkwardly. She was fuming. She hadn’t expected Lionel to drop the matter so easily. She cursed inwardly and wondered why things hadn’t gone according to her plan.

During break time, Noelle headed to the restroom. When she emerged from her stall, she overheard Betty bad–mouthing about her to someone else.

When Noelle appeared, the people by the sink fell silent.

Betty said sarcastically, “Some people like to act all high and mighty after doing something wrong. They think they’re untouchable because they’re from a rich family!” She had even purposely flicked the water on her hand at Noelle.

Noelle was already in a bad mood due to her period, yet Betty was still trying to test her limits. She immediately kicked a bucket toward Betty, causing the latter to shriek. “What do you think you’re doing?”

Noelle looked at her coldly and said, “If I catch you doing this again, I’ll shove that dirty water down your throat and wash that filthy mouth of yours!”
