Watching him go hurts, but knowing him leaving angry breaks me. What we had last night was beyond my expectations. He respected me and took care of me even we both knew it was a no-repeat.
He refused to go when I told him it was okay—he chose to say, but he betrayed me. He thought I was so naive and unaware of what was this all about.
“Be right back, I need to use the restroom.” I stand up, taking the purse with me.
“Don’t stay long. We have an appointment,” Megan reminds me.
Last week she booked a spa package for me. It includes deep tissue massage, peppermint foot scrub, seaweed facial, mani
edi treatment, and waxing. I’m a little bit nervous about waxing when she mentioned that it hurts like hell. I used to shave my bikini line, and it always itches and grows faster than in another area.
“I need to pee.” I roll my eyes.
I walk away ignoring Megan’s babbling. I reach the restroom, get inside, and do the deeds.
After squeezing a good amount of liquid soap, I place my hands below the motion-sensor sink and let the warm water softly massages my skin.
The door suddenly squeaks open. “Can’t wait for me, Meg?” I ask without looking at the person who comes in while pulling paper towels from the rack because I know that’s probably her who wants to remind me again.
My head jerks when I hear a clearing of a throat. “Oh, sorry. I thought you are my friend,” I say, giving a smile to the waitress about my age.
She’s a tall blonde with piercing blue eyes, and still wearing an apron.
“I came here to talk to you.” I can feel the anxiousness in her voice.
My brow arches. “Me? Do I know you? I mean besides you’re working here.”
She shakes her head. “We don’t know each other—”
“But?”
“It’s a long story.”
“Make it fast, sweetheart. I have an appointment in an hour or maybe we can talk some other time if it’s not important.” I toss the paper towels to the trash bin and walk to the door.
“Camila.” My body stiffs when I hear her calling my name.
“So, it’s you.”
How did she know my name? My curiosity kicks in. I look at the nameplate on her black apron.
“What do you want from me, Shine?”
“It’s short for Sunshine.”
Nodding glumly. “Start talking,” I say, crossing my arms over my chest. I’m a little bit bitchy, but I don’t know what she wants from me.
“I slept with Xandry,” she starts.
I bark into a louder laugh. “Xandry? So, how does it is any of my problems? I don’t think it’s my business to know about your sex life, Shine.”
“I know, but I also happened to hear Xandry talked to Pyke over the phone.”
My laughter instantly fades. “Pyke is not my business either, and I’m not his fuck buddy.”
“I know but I watched you two bickered that day.” She takes a deep breath.
My stomach churns. Why do I feel she’s going to say something that will upset me?
“Um, I know them both. They came here for coffee sometime. They’re playboys and rich, and you know.” She shrugs at the last words.
“Yet, you still sleep with Xandry...” I trail off.
She laughs guiltily.
“So, I heard everything they talked about after you left. I wished every day you will come back sooner. I told everyone to call me immediately if they will see you coming over.”
“Can you please just tell me what you wanna say.” I feel annoyed and anxious at the same time because deep inside I feel that this is not gonna be good.
“Xandry challenged Pyke to sleep with you.”
I gasp as the coldness wraps around my entire body. My eyes widen in shock. I brace my hand against the marble vanity top as my knees weaken.
“What makes you think I will believe you?” My voice turns shaky and hoarse. I blink the tears that well in my eyes to stop from falling.
“Xandry betted his car. If Pyke can sleep with you in less than a month, Xandry will get some of his club’s profit. If Pyke will sleep with you after a month which is two weeks from now, he will win and take Xandry’s Aston Martin DB11. One thing I can prove to you that I’m not lying, they mentioned about something, that Pyke has in his...”
I wince, feeling humiliated.
“What’s in his?” I ask with hesitation, but I barely hear her answer.
So, is this what is all about, huh? Betting for me to sleep with him. That’s why he’s been nice, flirty, offering me money, boudoir, and a job just for me to sleep with him? He did all of these because he had ulterior motives.
Damn you, asshole!
Xandry sits his sorry ass on the ground. Still, wincing in pain. He picks his car key in his pocket and hands it to me. “It’s already programmed.”
I grab it quickly and stride away. “Good luck for another bet, assholes!” I wave my hand, giving them my middle finger in the air.
I quickly unlock Xandry’s car—correction my car, and get inside. I bite my trembling bottom lip to control my emotions. I used myself because my anger took over me. I could have just confronted Pyke and told him what they are planning, but instead, I had sex with him, thinking it was the right thing to teach him a lesson.
I feel disgusted. I wipe the tears pouring down my cheeks and press the power button—it purrs when the engine comes to life. I should be over the moon right now that I have an expensive car, but I can’t even feel the excitement.
This is my prize. Jeez, I feel like a whore.
I clutch the seat belt, then take a deep breath while my hands are gripping around the black leather-wrapped steering wheel. I startle in my seat to the loud thuds outside the window.
“Open the door, Camila! Hear me out!” Pyke hollers as he slams his fists against the window.
I press the button to roll the tinted window down.
“What the hell do you want from me, Pyke?” I grind my teeth. “Or shall I call you Mr. Hughes now?” I choke the pain and the bitter taste rising up in my throat.
“Camila, please just hear me out,” Pyke begs.
“You have the goddamn time to explain if you wanted to tell me, Mr. Hughes. You have a hundred goddamn chances, but you clearly have no plan on telling me and you seemed to enjoy toying me in your palm.”
“Do you think I was playing with you all this time, Camila?”
“Don’t you?” I cock my brow.
“I was forced to agree,” he chokes.
I bark out laughing. “Really? Are you insane? Nobody can force you if you don’t want it, too. You could’ve given me a better excuse than that.”
He shakes his head simultaneously. “It’s not like that, Camila. Trust me.”
I chuckle evilly as I yank the car gear, “You slept with me, weren’t you? What else you want from me?”
“I want you,” he whispers.
I freeze in a moment. I might believe it if I haven’t found out what’s behind this.
“Fuck you, Pyke! Nice fucking with you!”
I shift the gear to a drive, jerking the steering wheel. I step the accelerator and drive away. Tires screech, leaving Pyke a cloud of dust and smoke behind.
