The elevator chimed when it arrived on her floor. As the doors slid open, Sana stepped out, balancing a heavy bag full of fresh groceries and fruit, and headed straight for her unit.

However, the moment she opened the door, she found her parents sitting on the sofa, looking grim. The instant they saw her, both of them spoke in unison.

“Sana, come here,” her father, Lionel Gardner, said.

“Come to me, sweetie,” her mother, Celeste Gardner, called out.

Seeing them act this way, Sana instinctively took a step back, a sinking feeling rising in her gut.

Just as she was desperately trying to figure out how to escape, Celeste sprang into action, striding over and effortlessly taking the heavy grocery bag from her hands. Lionel, on the other hand, beckoned her over again.

With no way out, Sana finally shuffled over and sat down nervously across from Lionel. Celeste quickly put the groceries away and joined them.

“Sweetheart, why didn’t you tell me you were seeing someone?” Celeste asked.

“Exactly! Isn’t this your first relationship? If you have problems, you can always come to us. Why argue with that young man out there?” Lionel added, frowning.

Hearing their relentless questioning, Sana could only bury her face in her hands in sheer exasperation. ‘I knew it,‘ she groaned inwardly.

“Mom, Dad, you’ve got it all wrong. It’s not what you think it is,” she tried to explain.

Celeste pressed. “Then what is it? We saw everything from upstairs. That young man was chasing after you with gifts and coaxing you so gently. If he’s not your boyfriend, then who is he? What did he do to make you so angry?”

“Exactly! If you ever feel wronged in any way, just tell me or your mom. If that guy dares to bully you, I’ll go deal with him myself right away,” Lionel said.

Sana said, “Mom, Dad, he’s really not my boyfriend. Stop jumping to conclusions.”

‘Goodness, this is so frustrating,‘ she thought, rubbing her temples. She couldn’t exactly tell them the truth about her relationship with Wesley, so in the end, all she could do was give them a vague, evasive reply.

But her parents weren’t buying it at all. Celeste pressed. “Alright, he’s not your boyfriend. Then why were you two arguing out there?”

“He keeps pestering me, and I’m sick of it. Can’t I tell him to get lost?” Sana snapped.

“So you really don’t like him? Fine, next time he shows up, I’ll help you kick him out,” Lionel assured her seriously.

Sana refused without a second thought. “No need for that, Mom and Dad. Just stay out of this.”

‘Things between me and Wesley are already a total mess. The last thing I need is Dad stepping in and making it even worse, she thought irritably.

Seeing her father about to say more, Sana quickly cut him off and turned to her mother instead. “Mom, didn’t you mention that Kelly wanted to introduce me to someone? I’ll go. Just pick a time.

Ever since she started working, her parents have been constantly setting her up on blind dates.

Previously, Sana had been completely infatuated with Wesley and turned down every single blind date. But this time, just to shut her parents up, she couldn’t care less about the consequences.

With that thought, she added hastily, “And tell Georgina and Florence that I’ll meet their guys as well. Just fill up my whole schedule. I’ll go on every single one of those dates.”
