Chapter 33 novel Open Marriage, Broken Promises: When Love Turns to Ashes
As I helped Erik into the lobby, we ran straight into Declan.
He was holding an unopened box of condoms.
"Selena, why are you with Erik?" Declan asked, his expression suspicious.
I glared at him.
"Your drunken horniness left your brother behind at the bar. What, am I not supposed to clean up after you?"
Declan said nothing, but his eyes were full of doubt as he looked at me.
I quickly dragged Erik into the elevator with the room key.
Erik chuckled against my shoulder.
"Should I thank you, sister-in-law?"
I swatted him.
Once inside the room, Erik pinned me against the door, his kisses falling like rain.
Just as I was losing myself in the moment, Erik rested his head on my shoulder and murmured,
"Sister-in-law, care to guess when your husband will lose his patience and knock on the door?"
My mind spun in an instant.
"What do you mean?"
Erik smirked at me.
The next second, a loud knock came from the door.
I could feel the vibrations through the door as I leaned against it.
Erik kissed the corner of my lips.
"Looks like I was right!"
Understanding the meaning behind his words, I widened my eyes at Erik.
"Are you saying Declan's been waiting outside the whole time?"
Erik nodded.
"What do we do?" I asked, glancing nervously at the door, which was being knocked on with increasing force.
Erik spread his hands with a teasing smile.
"Sister-in-law, why don't we just let your husband in and tell him the truth?"
Declan's angry voice came from outside.
"Selena, open the door! If you don't, I'll have the front desk bring up a room key!"
I hesitated for a few seconds.
"Will he hit you?"
"He wouldn't dare."
I looked at Erik, who seemed completely confident, and said,
"Open it. He's going to find out sooner or later."
Erik opened the door, and Declan stumbled in, nearly falling over. The box of condoms in his hand landed at Erik's feet.
