"Mannie, you're not getting any younger. Can't you be more mature? We're getting married next month, and you want to break up now? Do you really think this is the right time?"

His words hit me like a slap.

When he was making out with another woman, he didn't seem to remember that we were supposed to get married.

At that moment, my phone buzzed.

It was a message from Wendy Snow.

"Miss Lindsay, I assume you're reaching out because of Mr. Ryan?"

"Please don't misunderstand. There's nothing going on between Mr. Ryan and me."

"If you don't believe me, I'm happy to explain everything in person."

Her words were as insincere as they came.

I frowned.

Are the other women in these kinds of relationships really this bold?

Anger surged in me, but I still managed to stay somewhat rational.

Wendy Snow had sent me this message because she wanted me to confront Ryan and cause us to break up, so she could take my place. But her plan was destined to fail.

I took screenshots of her Moments and blocked her, then messaged the purchasing department manager.

He replied quickly. "Ms. Lindsay, she's someone Mr. Ryan is keeping a close eye on. I'm worried…"

I cut him off, "I'll take full responsibility for the consequences. If Mr. Ryan has an issue with you, just tell him it was my decision."

The next morning, Ryan stormed into the guest room.

"You had HR fire Wendy Snow?"

I jumped awake.

The headache from lack of sleep pounded against my temples, and his accusatory tone only made it worse.

"Yes, I had her fired."

I rubbed my forehead.

Ryan glared at me. "Mannie, since when did you become so petty? Wendy Snow only accompanied me to a couple of business events. Why are you making such a big deal out of it?"

"You think Wendy has it as easy as you? Living the life of a rich wife without lifting a finger? Her family's in poor condition, and her mother's been sick. She even had surgery recently.

You fired her now, and you're pushing her to the edge."

I couldn't help but laugh bitterly.
