At one point, Hugo and Kiara didn’t know if they kept going out and shoving meat down their throats because they enjoyed it too much or because, somehow, they felt slightly competitive. But they kept going until they were hit with a food coma.
Both of them stayed seated, staring at the remaining meat in horror. Fortunately, Hugo had some reserved space in his stomach and forced it all down. Hence, they didn’t need to pay extra for the leftovers.
"I think this is the first time I’ve felt really full," Hugo yawned, rubbing his belly as his steps slowed.
Kiara also yawned, walking beside him.
Before they fell asleep in the restaurant, they both decided to take a short walk first. Hugo would still drive, and Kiara wasn’t planning on falling asleep on their trip back and waking up in heaven.
"Can you slow down?" she asked, touching her side a little. "My side hurts."
He slowed down and looked at her. "But we’re like... crawling with our pace."
"Just slow down, alright?" she sighed, taking a step like a snail. "We just ate, so walking too fast hurts my side."
’But we’re walking very slowly already.’
Hugo intuitively gazed at her thin legs. It wasn’t like Kiara was short; she almost had the same height as Nina. However, compared to him, she was smaller.
"Ah." He nodded, pounding the bottom of his fist against his palm. "That’s why!"
"Huh?" Confused, she tilted her head. "What?"
"Hehe. Nothing," he beamed, not planning on telling her his realization.
Hugo had once talked about height in front of Atlas, and he almost got both his legs fractured. He learned his lesson that time, so he made it a general rule not to talk about it to anyone, ever.
The two of them kept walking on the pavement, silence falling on them. If not for the occasional honk and engine roaring from the road, it would have been complete silence for both of them.
"Does your side still hurt?" he asked after a few minutes of silence.
"No, I’m fine now," she said, but he still walked slower than usual. "And I don’t feel like throwing up anymore. A walk after a feast is always the best. Good thing we did."
"Told you." He snapped his tongue and wiggled his brows.
Kiara glanced at him, pressing her lips before she blurted out. "How come you’re so fit?"
"I’m fit?"
"Mhm. I haven’t known you that long, but what I’m certain of is that there’s a beast in there," she explained, pointing at his stomach but miscalculated her reach. She ended up poking his stomach.
Her brows shot up, holding his gaze as she poked him again. "Is that a stone or what?" she asked in dread.
"Stone?" Hugo arched a brow, and without thinking twice, he held the hem of his shirt and pulled it up. "There’s no stone here."
Kiara stopped, staring at those toned abs he was shamelessly displaying in public. Meanwhile, Hugo let go of his shirt and looked at her, also stopping in his tracks.
Her face turned red as she clenched her teeth. "How is this fair?" Her voice shook, knowing he ate more than she did, but his stomach was still perfectly toned, as if it deserved to be preserved in a museum. Hers, on the other hand... freewebnovel.cσ๓
