"Mom?" The young Finn, about four years old, came downstairs while hugging a drawing book. He had an innocent smile on his face — excited, even — because he had been waiting for this day to come.

His parents promised that today would be his day. Just him and them.

Finn pressed his lips into a thin line, looking up the stairs, only to find his father rushing down while wearing his suit.

"Daddy?" called the young Finn, earning a smile from his father when the latter came to where he was.

"Hey, buddy..." His father ruffled his hair and smiled, squatting down in front of him.

"Where are you going?" asked the young Finn innocently, even though a part of him already figured out where his father was headed.

The man stretched his mouth and smiled. "Son, Daddy just needs to sort things out at the company, okay? Don’t worry. I’ll come back as soon as I can."

"Oh..."

"It’ll be very quick!" the man promised, raising his voice to sound cheerful. "You won’t wait too long, okay?"

Finn pressed his lips into a thin line, nodding at his father in understanding. Even at this age, he understood that his parents were important people. Therefore, they were always busy and had no other time for anything else... including him.

"Okay."

"Good boy." The man smiled, but there was a flicker of guilt in his eyes. Even so, he knew he had no choice. "Hon, I’m..."

"Fine! I’ll go!" the woman hissed, ending the call and turning around. When she saw her husband squatting down in front of their son, her mouth opened and closed. "Oh, Finn... you’re there!"

The woman quickly put down her phone on the table, rushing to her husband and son. Just like her husband, she bent over and rested her hands on her knees.

"Mommy, are you leaving too?" Finn asked, blinking innocently.

The woman smiled at him wryly. "Well, honey... the thing is, Mommy has to do something first."

"Oh..."

"But don’t worry! It won’t be long! Mommy will be back before you even know it!" she reassured him nervously, patting Finn’s shoulder. "I just... had to go for a while, okay? But I’ll be back."
