Jane had an absolutely terrifying nightmare in the middle of the night.
She was jolted awake.
Lights were switched on in the pitch-black house.
“What’s wrong, Jane?”
Jane immediately lunged herself into Sarah’s arms while trembling all over. She said, “Mom...mom...I dreamed about Verian climbing toward me while completely covered in blood. She wanted my life… I also dreamed about getting beaten to death by dad… he was forcing me to repay Verian’s life with mine…”
Jane was crying her lungs out in her mother's arms. Her face was completely soaked while her eyes were red.
Sarah gently patted her while comforting her, “It’s a dream, only a dream. Don’t be afraid and besides, you are your father’s trueborn daughter and he wouldn’t treat you like that. Be a good girl now.”
“Mom… I feel like I can no longer remain in North City. I need to get out of here!”
Sarah said while staring at her, “But, but if you leave now, you’ll raise even more suspicions. Jane, listen to me, I will send you to the U.K. after this is over.”
Jane was desperately shaking her head, “I’m not going to wait any longer, mom… if dad finds out that I did this, he will send me to the police station! If he can give Verian half of his inheritance that shows that we’re not as important as Verian to him, in his heart!”
“Crash…”
The door was suddenly kicked open violently.
Jane was startled as she cowered in Sarah’s arms.
James was standing out the door.
Words could not describe James’ rage as he yelled, “Get the hell out no, Jane Fudd!”
Jane cowered in Sarah. She said while sobbing, “Mom, mommy… save me… please…”
Sarah hugged her daughter tightly and spoke in a cold tone, “James Fudd, this has nothing to do with Jane! I was the one who kidnapped Verian!”
“Sarah Zain! Is this how you’re supposed to act as a mother?! You actually enabled your daughter’s kidnapping! Someday, you’ll ruin her with the way you’re educating her now!”
After hearing that statement, Jane began to cackle out loud. She broke free from Sarah’s arms and stared at James in a maniacal fit. She exclaimed, “I’m already ruined! It was all your fault! Only I am your trueborn daughter! Why are you treating Verian better than your own daughter! Did you know that… my entire life has been ruined by you!”
James strode over and immediately gave a huge tight slap across Jane’s face.
“Unfilial child!”
The corner of Jane’s mouth was bleeding. She held onto her injured cheek. She laughed while slouching on her side and said, “You’d hit your own daughter, yell at me and give half your inheritance away for someone whom you have no blood relations to. Dad, am I really your own trueborn daughter in your eyes?”
James took a deep breath and said while coldly glaring at her. He questioned in a stern tone, “Where exactly did you bring Verian to!”
“Dad, would you want me to pay with my life if Verian is dead?”
“You…! Jane Fudd, Verian is your cousin-in-law! Even if Verian had nothing to do with you, you shouldn’t kidnap her!”
James was hurt because he had no idea how he had given birth to a daughter like that.
Sarah’s tears began to fall as she stared intensely at James. She said, “James Fudd, you actually treat us, both mother and daughter like this for Verian Mont! Don’t you feel any guilt at all?”
James held onto his forehead and sat by the bed in his fatigued state. He faced his back on both Sarah and Jane and said, “I don’t wish to argue with you guys about that. Best that you come clean to me right now, Jane Fudd. Tell me where Verian is. If anything was to actually happen to Verian, I’m not going to be the first person to not let you go.”
James turned around and looked at Jane. He said, “You should clearly understand just how important Verian is to your cousin.”
Jane’s tear stained eyes trembled.
She began to cackle out loud again, “Why, why are all of you so worried when Verian has an incident! Where were you guys when I had an incident! Where!”
…
Heaton sent people to look for Verian in the entire city. It seemed every inch of the entirety of North City had been overturned for the search.
Heaton sat on the couch in the middle of the night while he squeezed his brows with his long fingers. He looked exhausted.
Wilson had also sent some people to search for Verian’s whereabouts for a few hours now…
His cell phone suddenly disrupted the ambient silence.
Heaton was stunned as he picked up the call immediately.
There were sounds of winds from the other end of the phone. “Boss, madam is currently held in an abandoned factory in the Western Suburbs!”
