In the extended-length Lincoln limousine, Yandel sat together with Xylean in the car’s backseat. He sat close to her, and she could smell his strong pheromone scent lingering around her.

At that moment, she felt safe and secure.

Feeling sympathetic, Yandel gently caressed the scratch marks on her face and neck. She frowned and backed away due to the pain but Yandel pulled her into his embrace.

He hugged her tight and gave an order to Yale, “Let’s go to the hospital.”

Like an injured animal, Xylean snuggled into his embrace and buried her face against his chest. Her body trembled as she grasped tightly onto his collar.

Was she frightened?

Was it because she had been brought to the police station due to her fight?

The Xylean Yandel he knew was bold and daring. She was not easily frightened.

The man held her close in his sturdy and slender arms, lowering his head to plant a kiss on her forehead that gave her a sense of comfort. He then murmured in a gentle and raspy voice, “Leannie?”

Xylean was choked with tears. “Don’t look at me.”

Right now, she looked terrible and miserable.

‘This girl’s parents claimed to not have a daughter after picking up the phone.’ The police officer’s words were ringing in her mind. She was not afraid of anything and yet, those words hurt her after such a long time.

‘I was chased out of the house a long time ago, wasn’t I? I’m used to this, aren’t I?’

When she heard those words, why did she feel like a dying fish, her heart suffocating as if it had been wrapped by layers of plastic. If she did not hold onto Yandel right now, she would feel like her last support had been pulled away too.

She had gotten used to the fact that her parents loved her brother far more than her.

She also loved Johnny and never thought of hurting him. Johnny’s car accident was indeed unexpected. Why had her parents blamed Johnny’s death all on her…

The reason why she did not want Yandel to get what he wanted was because it was only when she treated him badly that there was a shred of comfort within her, a sense of being released from the sorrow deep inside her heart.

With her eyes closed, tears started streaming down her cheeks, dampening Yandel’s shirt. Yandel felt a burning sensation in his heart as if he could feel the hot tears against his chest.

“Leannie... If you can’t let go of your hatred toward that girl, I’ll ask someone to bully her back, okay?”

Yandel had no limits when it came to Xylean. He was practically limitless for her.

In other people’s eyes, Yandel was considered a gentleman no matter how aloof he was. He would definitely not humble himself to a girl who was a stranger to him. However, for the sake of the little girl in his embrace, Yandel would bully them back regardless of who they were. He would do anything as long as she was happy.

In Yandel’s embrace, Xylean’s eyes were bloodshot. Yet, she remained silent and was unwilling to look at him. She just cuddled him and cried, weeping silently as she tried to hold back her tears.

Yandel felt distressed upon seeing her crying. He did not ask her questions anymore and just wrapped his arms around her shoulder with his chin resting on top of her head.

‘Just cry it all out. Everything will be better after you cry.’ Yandel thought to himself.

As they arrived at the hospital, Yandel carried Xylean into the wound dressing room.

The doctor disinfected her wounds and applied some cream to it. There were nothing serious about her injuries. However, as her skin was extremely fair, the scratch marks stood out.

Yandel did not allow Xylean to stay in the hostel anymore. He was worried that her housemates would bully her again. After carrying her into the car, he gently brushed his lips against her nose and asked in a deep tone, “Leannie, stay together with me, okay?”

Xylean’s face looked pale. She pursed her lips and impassively said, “I don’t want to.”

“Where do you want to stay then? I have a lot of properties under my name. You can choose one and I promise, no unauthorized personnel can disturb you there.”

“How about you?” Xylean lifted her head, her watery eyes meeting his gaze.

Yandel’s face turned cold. “Do I look like unauthorized personnel to you?”

“Unless you’re doing it for my good and stop being possessive, you shouldn’t be making decisions for me.”

Possessiveness, overbearing, stubborn.

That was what Xylean thought of him.

He admitted that he was overpossessive toward her. He would arrange for someone to follow her wherever she was. She said she felt suffocated being together with him and he understood that. However, she had run away from him again and again over the past few years. He had been trying to be tolerant of her. Was that not enough?
