Noting Nadine's haste, Brad frowned and shot a glance at Cameron.

"Look into that old lady."

Having known Nadine for over six years, he'd never seen such grief in her expression. She seemed as if she'd lost a loved one.

Nadine still remained silent and impassive even after picking up Sean as if she'd become mute. Since Brad was around, the car naturally headed back to Phoenix Villa. She was so lost in thought that she didn't even notice.

When she realized that they were heading back to Phoenix Villa, she grew agitated. "I never said I wanted to go back here!"

Nadine took Sean's hand and prepared to leave, but Brad stuck his leg out to block her path. Catching on to his intention, the bodyguards also locked the gate as they eyed her warily.

Brad had a pair of captivating eyes. Whenever he narrowed his eyes, he instinctively took on an imposing air.

Seeing that his parents were about to break into a fight, Sean yanked his hand away from Nadine and stood between them.

"Daddy, Mommy's angry. You should cheer her up. It's always easy to cheer girls up. Just tease her a little," he suggested cutely.

His mature behavior amused the maids, who quickly stifled their laughter. Worried that they would disrupt Brad and Nadine, they kept their heads down, trying to suppress their giggles to the point that they were shaking.

Sean's sensible words caught Brad's attention. The anger simmering in his chest dampened as he strode toward Sean and ruffled his hair, flashing a rare smile at him.

Only Nadine and Brad were left in front of the gate. Neither of them spoke, and silence hung thick in the air. The faint sound of the wind gushing by reverberated through the air, highlighting the uneasy stillness in the atmosphere.

Just as Nadine was about to turn and leave, Brad began, "Nadine, I'll break your legs if you run away from home again!"

Yesterday night, he'd anticipated her waiting for him obediently in bed. But then, he was greeted by an empty bed. At that point, he really felt like breaking Nadine's legs. How could she cause such a scene?

She also knew about Jean's existence back when she hadn't returned, yet she never caused any trouble. So, why was it different now?

Nadine was so pissed off by him that she barked out a laugh. "Brad, what the fuck did you just say?"
