Last night, Brad eventually made it to the hospital. By the time he arrived, Jean's attending physician was already working on her.

After more than two hours of effort, Jean finally opened her eyes. When she saw Brad in the ward with his grim face, tears of joy streamed down her cheeks. She looked at him with tearful eyes.

"Brad, I thought you didn't want me anymore."

Upon seeing her tears, Brad relented. At the thought of the troublesome woman at home, his frustration flared up. Sitting by Jean's hospital bed, he held her hand and softly reassured her.

"Don't worry. I'm here. I've already asked Cameron to find a suitable kidney donor. As soon as we have one, we'll schedule the surgery. After that, you'll be as good as new."

Seeing Jean's tears made him think of the stubborn Nadine at home. She was like a mule—impossible to lead and stubbornly resistant.

Last night, she had called out another man's name. When he found that man, he'd make sure to break them apart. Brad didn't even realize how much jealousy was hidden in that thought.

With Brad's reassurance, Jean felt much better. She clung to his hand, afraid he might slip away while she slept. As a result, neither of them got a good night's rest.

Jean couldn't sleep soundly, as she was terrified that Brad might leave without her noticing. She'd wake up after every brief nap.

Meanwhile, Brad, unable to escape her clutches and unwilling to return to Phoenix Villa, spent over an hour dozing by the hospital bed. When he woke, the sun was already high.

Jean mentioned craving the ravioli from a street vendor she used to visit as a child. Brad hurriedly washed his face and went downstairs to buy them, forgetting his phone in the ward.

Though she mentally cursed Nadine, she kept her composure and continued speaking to Sean. "Your name is Sean, right? Your dad went out to get some food for me, so he won't be able to take your call."

Even though Sean was young, he sensed the hostility in her voice and politely tried to end the call. "Thank you for telling me. I'll hang up now. Bye."

Jean wasn't done yet. She sneered and said into the phone, "I'm sure your mom had you call. Tell her this—Brad will never fall for you!"

Hearing footsteps in the hallway, she quickly hung up, deleted the call history, and returned Brad's phone to its place.

After that, she smoothed her hair and forced herself to calm down, pretending nothing had happened.
