Nadine knew one thing was certain—the only person who could keep Brad out all night was Jean. If Brad didn't come home, it was definitely because of her.

This morning, when she woke up, Brad was not by her side. She had touched the bed next to her, and it was cold. This indicated that Brad hadn't been home all night.

He didn't come home, which meant only one thing—Jean needed him.

After repeatedly being the one Brad abandoned, Nadine had finally seen things clearly. She no longer harbored any hope for him, and she was utterly disheartened by their marriage.

She just wanted to make a simple breakfast for Sean, eat, and then leave Phoenix Villa, but Sean hadn't done as she wished. Instead, he had called Brad. This deeply hurt her already fragile pride.

Brad had already slapped her in the face. Was she supposed to turn the other cheek to be slapped as well?

Sean calling Brad behind her back infuriated her. She raised her voice as if she were arguing with him. Seeing Nadine fuming, Sean tried to figure out what was wrong while staying silent.

He didn't know why Nadine was so angry. Thinking he had done something wrong, he quickly apologized. "Mommy, I'm sorry. I made a mistake. I'm sorry."

There was nothing but grievance in his eyes as he apologized. He had only wanted to know where Brad was. After being ridiculed by Jean over the phone, now he had to face Nadine's reproach. He felt terrible.

Nadine constantly reminded herself that she and Brad were divorced. Even though he hadn't signed the divorce papers yet, in her heart, he was already dead to her as a husband. She would never contact him again, no matter what trouble she was in.

Now, with Sean calling Brad, she was sure Brad would look down on her even more.

Sean was her solace. Whenever she felt she couldn't go on in this marriage, it was Sean who gave her the strength and courage to continue. She had just lashed out at him over a phone call, which was wrong.

Filled with regret, Nadine apologized again while holding Sean tightly. She felt like her heart was being torn apart.

Sean generously hugged her back and gave her a big kiss on the cheek. "Mommy, don't be mad. If you don't like me calling Daddy, I won't call him anymore."

He loved Nadine. Seeing her guilt-ridden expression, he tried to cheer her up by changing the subject. "Mommy, I'm hungry."

When Sean said he was hungry, Nadine forgot about everything else. She quickly put on her apron and rushed into the kitchen to make breakfast. As soon as Nadine left, Sean smiled.
