"What else do you want me to do? Nadine hasn't said a word. Why are you in such a hurry to defend her? Aren't you afraid Jean will get mad?"

Evelyn shook her head in frustration, afraid of angering Brad further. She pinched Gigi's arm and glared at her. "You can't talk back to your brother. What he says goes!"

Evelyn was genuinely scared. If Brad lost his temper and decided to send Gigi to jail, she wouldn't be able to stay with the Hamilton family anymore. Besides, attacking someone with a knife was entirely Gigi's fault. At that moment, keeping the peace was the best solution. She couldn't understand why Gigi found it so hard to apologize and had to be so stubborn.

Nadine hadn't expected Brad to defend her. She lowered her eyes, focusing on him. His flawless face, smooth skin, high nose, and sharp features made his profile especially striking.

Mesmerized by his stunning looks, she momentarily forgot about Evelyn and Gigi. She simply stared at Brad in a daze.

Brad's gaze was icy as he fixed his eyes on Gigi, who glared back defiantly. His injured hand rested on the chair's armrest, tapping it rhythmically. With each tap, Gigi's anxiety grew.

Sensing the menace in Brad's eyes, Gigi bit her lip and apologized to Nadine again. "Nadine, I'm sorry! I was wrong this time!"

With that, she bowed deeply to Nadine. Though her tone was stiff, her attitude had improved, and she did say "sorry."

Brad was barely satisfied with her performance. Turning to Evelyn, he said, "Mom, Gigi needs to stay in time-out for a while to reflect on her actions. No one, including you, is allowed to visit her. I'll arrange for someone to supervise her. So, it's best if you stay away from the back room."

After all the shock Sean and she had endured, and with Brad injured, a simple "sorry" from Gigi was hardly enough to brush everything aside. It was as if saying "sorry" for murder could allow one to escape the consequences.

Nadine knew Evelyn would undoubtedly defend Gigi and persuade Brad to lift the punishment. This only infuriated her more. With a cold huff, she turned and walked away. There was no point in staying to play along with their charade. It was all so nauseating.

As Brad watched Nadine storm off, he frowned in confusion. He wondered what she was up to now. Since he had already made Gigi apologize, he couldn't understand what more she wanted.

Gigi felt humiliated and frustrated as she watched Nadine walk away. She pointed at Nadine and complained to Brad, "Brad, look at her. She's being so unfair!"
