When Nadine was free, she enjoyed tending to the flowers and plants at home. They were well cared for, and even in winter, they would blossom.

The other two small buildings on the property had different purposes. One was Brad's private space, which Nadine had never entered, so she wasn't sure what it was like inside. The other was a two-story playhouse for Sean. It was filled with playground equipment and a large indoor play area specially built by Adam for Sean.

On rainy days when outdoor play wasn't possible, the maids would take Sean to the two-story playhouse. Nadine expected him to stay there for a while, so she was surprised when he returned so quickly.

Sean looked up at her with a proud smile. "I came back because I wanted to give you a surprise!"

Knowing her child well, Nadine doubted the truth of that claim. They were together every day, and she didn't need surprises. However, seeing Sean's excited expression, she put on a happy face and said, "What a wonderful surprise, my dear. Thank you."

Of course, it wasn't really a surprise—it was just a ploy.

Sean happily wiggled his little bottom and took her hand as they left the bathroom. He quickly ran to Brad, who was sitting on the sofa, and threw himself into his arms. "Daddy, Mommy's out now! You promised to get me ice cream!"

Nadine quickly understood what was happening. Brad was truly despicable. He even used Sean for his own gain. She couldn't help but shout, "Brad, how can you exploit such a little kid like this? Doesn't it bother you at all? Or has your conscience disappeared?"

Nadine was trembling with anger. Her mind was racing, and all she could think about was how to confront Brad.

"Brad, do you have any idea about Sean's health? His stomach is sensitive, and he can't handle cold or heavy foods. Yet you're giving him ice cream in the middle of winter! What's wrong with you?"

She added, "In this weather, I even warm up fruit for him to avoid upsetting his stomach. But you, you just hand him ice cream. How much do you want to see him suffer? I know you don't like us, but there's no need to take it out on Sean!"

Nadine's face was flushed with anger, and she trembled with fury.
