Brad couldn't handle being ignored anymore. His patience snapped, and he spat out her name.

"Nadine Scott!" After a minute, he added, "Come outside. We need to talk."

Nadine glanced lovingly at her sleeping son, then took a deep breath and leveled a cold stare toward Brad.

"Fine. But we'll talk outside." She had a few things to say to him too.

They both left the room, leaving Cameron to watch over Sean. Nadine led the way down the hallway, making sure they were far enough from Sean's room that he wouldn't hear them, no matter how loud they got.

Once they were far enough, she stopped and faced Brad. As Nadine turned around, her eyes were filled with anger as she looked at Brad. "Is this really because Sean isn't your real son? Is that why you let him get hurt?

"Brad, Sean is my child. I never said you could take him. You don't have to love him, but don't you dare hurt him!"

Her voice got louder as she spoke. The only thing that kept her calm was knowing Sean's injury wasn't too serious. But just thinking about her little boy in a cast broke her heart.

If it had been worse, she would've fought Brad with everything she had. Sean was her world—nothing was more important. Tears started to fill Nadine's eyes as she felt guilty and scared.

For a moment, Brad felt something soften inside him when he saw the pain in her eyes. Without thinking, he reached out, wanting to wipe away the tears from her face.

However, Nadine quickly pulled back, moving so fast it was like she couldn't stand the thought of him touching her.

Nadine's voice was sharp and angry. "Stop with the excuses. I don't want to hear them. If you hadn't taken Sean with you, this wouldn't have happened. You owe me an explanation."

Her eyes were red and watery, looking like she was almost about to cry. Her lips were shaking as she tried not to let her tears fall.

Brad, seeing her anger, tried to explain again, "Sean fell from the high chair. I was right there, but I couldn't react in time—"

Nadine suddenly yelled, "Enough! I don't want to hear any more excuses! I just want you to stay away from us!"

Her fists were so tight her knuckles were turning white. She was breathing fast, her chest heaving with each breath, showing how upset she was.
