Brad couldn't answer Evelyn's question.

To be honest, he'd never paid attention to Sean. Throughout these six years, Nadine had been raising Sean on her own. Brad had done nothing at all in that sense.

Of course, to him, he'd done his best. Sean wasn't his own son. He married Nadine and took her and Sean into his care. He'd also given them a title so that society wouldn't look down on them.

It wasn't until Nadine proposed a divorce that he'd paid more attention to Sean. And that was because… Sean was someone Nadine had a soft spot for.

As long as he used Sean to manipulate Nadine, she would hold back her temper, however furious she might be.

To tell the truth, he didn't hate Sean. Sean was adorable and sweet. His eyes were huge, his nose was well-defined, and his hair was naturally wavy. He was picture-perfect.

Most of the time when he saw Sean, he couldn't help but want to get closer to Sean.

He would silently keep an eye on Sean even though he knew they were unrelated. When Nadine wasn't around, he would take good care of Sean and assume the unfamiliar role of a father.

It might be because of that that when he heard Evelyn and Gigi calling Sean a bastard, he felt extremely displeased. Unable to contain himself, he slapped Gigi.

He remained sullen when Evelyn questioned him, and his eyes were pools of frost.

After staring at Evelyn for a long time, he impassively replied, "Stay out of my business!"

Then, his gaze fell on Gigi and turned as threatening as a blade out of its sheath. "Gigi Hamilton, reflect on your mistakes in the back room!"

He hadn't come up with a punishment for her. She was getting more and more unruly. He needed some time to calm down and think. For the time being, he didn't want to see her.

Upon getting the answer he wanted, Brad was satisfied. Without another word, he leaned back in his seat and rested.

However, all he could think of was Nadine's determined look when she insisted on getting a divorce.

The look in her eyes and the resolute expression she wore hammered away at his chest. The pain was now even more obvious.

Loosening his tie, Brad found the first-aid kit at the back of the seat and took out a bottle. He poured out two pills onto his palm. Without even looking, he flung them into his mouth and swallowed them just like that.

Brad had a heart disease which was beyond medical help. The only way to cure it was through having a heart transplant.

But, alas…
