He knew better than to voice it out as it would only pressure Anne.

Sarah sat down in the cafe and stared outside the window as she sipped on her coffee.

She spotted Anne walking over, but Lucas was nowhere to be seen. Before Anne could even take her seat, Sarah asked hastily, "So? What did you two talk about?"

"Why are you so nosy?" Anne propped her chin in her palm.

"Did he come all the way here because he knew you were here?"

"How long will he be staying?"

"Another two days."

"That's great. We aren't going back anytime soon. Call him out tonight or tomorrow for a meal."

"That's not really necessary, is it?" Anne did not want to be too close to Lucas.

"Don’t be rude! Think about how kind he has been to you. He helped you hide the children and allowed them to receive early education at his school. Have you ever bought him dinner for once?"

Anne was rendered speechless as she had not done so since she was too poor.

"Is that really what you have in mind? Mom, let me tell you this: I rejected Lucas right from the beginning because of Anthony. Anthony would never let me live my life, so what's the point of dragging Lucas into it?" Anne said.

She did not want to be the horrible woman who slept with Anthony while flirting with Lucas at the same time.

Exposed of her true intention, Sarah cut to the chase. "If Anthony is out of the picture, you two can be together. You can get married and give birth to more babies. You will have a happy life!"
